Spoiler:
Whitney (Whitney Cummings) and Alex (Chris D'Elia) scheme a way to skip out on their family gatherings to start new holiday traditions with their friends Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones), Neal (Maulik Pancholy), Mark (Dan O'Brien) and Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn). However, Whitney's little white lie to her mother Candi (guest-star Jane Kaczmarek) and an unexpected visit from her father, Vince, (guest-star Peter Gallagher) cause her perfect plan of merriment to unravel.

I watched for the first time. Whitney is cute, but even from a single episode it seemed very formulaic and the canned laughter from jokes that weren't even worth a chuckle was too much.
