I've been amazed for a long time that he was still alive. Guess I can stop being amazed now. But he sure did make it a long time. For comparison, McLean Stevenson was only 68 when he died.

Sad to read.
Shared the same birthday (Different years, of course)
He was kind enough to sign a photo through the mail for me a couple years ago.
Besides MASH, enjoyed him on Dragnet and in numerous Disney movies during my childhood.
RIP

"Here's to you, boys.
To Ryan, who died in W.W.I, the war to end all wars.
To Gianelli, who died in the war after that.
To Stein, the joker of the crowd.
And to Gresky, my best friend who just passed away in Tokyo.
You were the friends of my youth.
My comrades through thick and thin and everything in between.
I drink to your memories.
I loved you fellows, one and all."

Being a lifelong M*A*S*H fan, it always amazed me that he was still alive. I recently caught "Support your local sherriff" on HDNET (or maybe MGMHD i forget). And thinking, man, he, bruce dern and james garner are the only ones still alive from the principal actors.
-- from IMDB quotes --
Col. Potter: Well, boys, it would be hard to call what we've been through fun, but I'm sure glad we went through it together. You boys always managed to give me a good laugh, right when I needed it most.
Happy Trails to you Mr Morgan

I saw the thread in Movie Talk first, but I grew up with him on M*A*S*H so it felt more appropriate over here. Rest in peace.

I always respected his character on M.A.S.H., but even more so his real life character.
Married to his 1st wife for 45 years (until she died), then she was married to another wife for 25 years (until he died).
Not often you see a "Hollywood" man stay married to the same woman for that long.
In M.A.S.H., he had his real wife's picture was on his desk and other things around his office in M.A.S.H. that his real family had made him over the years.
I do not think he was acting in M.A.S.H. (or Dragnet...), his convictions came from his heart.
Hard working man that was faithful to his family, hard to find anywhere today.
With a sad heart I say...
Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen

Goodbye, Farewell, & Amen.
Not a surprise, he lived a long life. My favorite all time show, and I loved the Potter character. Wise & colorful, Morgan played him perfectly.
As well as the dozens of TV shows and movies he did.

In July 1997, spousal abuse charges against M*A*S*H star Harry Morgan were dropped after he completed a six-month domestic violence counseling program. Morgan was charged with abusing his wife in July 1996 after an argument that left his wife with injuries to her eye, foot and arm.
