Regarding the episode summary... When DDK awoke, it looked to me like he was going after Dexter. So it seems surprising that the episode summary says what it says. I would have expected something more like "Dexter tries to survive DDK" or "Dexter tries to free himself."

Another thing. Last week while in the church, Dexter moved some furniture from over the trap door revealing the trap door. He then went down the trap door thinking that's where Gellar/DDK (in his mind) went. But if Gellar had gone down a trap door, how in the world would he have been able to pull the funiture back over it afterwards?

There is a cellar door down there as well. Dexter just saw there was something there but he didn't necessarily know if there was another way in or not.

They went a bit overboard in this episode. The security guard who just walked out without locking the door, the operator who gave Dexter the coordinates of the boat after telling him his "wife wouldn't like finding out about my girlfriend", and finally Dexter calling 911. Those calls are recorded, someone would recognize Dexter's voice.

Yeah, in real life Deb would be eventually listen to that 911 recording. Wonder if they'll go there...probably not.

Also, not a great florist that gives away client ordering info to someone calling and claiming to be from the Miami PD.

I thought Dexter would end up on the wrong path and Travis not going back to get Holly but I guess Dexter is smarter than I am.

If I was Batista's sister, I would want to know what he said to the boyfriend to not want to go out for the evening.

All in all, I thought it was a very good episode continuing to build the tension until the finale. Much better than last season so far. I wonder if "Brother Sam" will make a final appearance before the season is over.

Agreed. A bit too contrived to believe. The security guard opened that door so wide it was as if he was keeping it open for someone behind him anyway

I like the whole crew just milling about aimlessly when they walk in the church, to hunt a guy that's booby-trapped virtually all of his kill scenes. No threat he'd do that anywhere else obviously.

Oh, and a old church like that in south florida, just a few miles from the everglades themselves..with a basement.

Who was the girl who answered the door when Dexter was looking for the guy who owned the boat? I thought it was Eliza Dushku for a second, but she looked to young.

I'm guessing random reasonably hot extra they found in the parking lot that day?

I think this season is just awful.

Keeping Gellar's hand for a rainy day was interesting though.

It's certainly better than 2 & 5

With that said, I want to see where this Louis thing is going. Considering there's two episodes left, I bet they'll reveal more next week. Him showing Dexter you can be a serial killer in the game has some meaning behind it.

I don't know. Unfortunately this show has a history of letting these side stories kind of peter out. Maybe he really is just what he appears to be ... a serial-killer obsessed computer geek. It explains the point of his internship (looking at his apartment, his programming job brings him plenty of money) and the auctioned hand. Though he's a gigantic idiot for thinking Dexter would approve of his game. Surely he knew that Dexter's wife was killed by a serial killer.

They are really setting up some regular cast members to die. Very interesting. I guess all those times Quinn was being a drunk asshole might get Batista killed. Then the crazy bitch in the station.. Next week should be wild.

It seems pretty clear to me that Quinn sleeping in sets the stage for him to rescue Batista -- not the other way around.

I don't know if you checked the thread from the previous week, the last posts, but there's a theory, a little bit crazy, but it's something, that the intern may be Dexter's nephew, son of the Ice Truck Killer.

I still think that by the end of the season Deb will either be dead or know Dexter's secret.

I really think they're setting up for the latter. All this talk with the therapist about Dexter being Deb's "rock" - just seems to be setup for pulling the rug out from under her.

So, with a few more seasons under our belt, which response seems the most likely

Wait, what? Are you serious?

First of all, season two is one of the two seasons that had Doakes in it (No Doakes season could be bad), and it was the Bay Harbor Butcher season! It's arguably one of the most popular seasons.

And five had Lumen. Lumen was awesome.

This season has Tom Hanks' terrible actor of a son and not much else.

^ I have to agree. This is BY FAR the worst season of the show so far. That being said I did enjoy this episode.

I totally agree with you there. The guard leaving the door wide open I could let slide but Dexter calling 911 to report the dead body was just sloppy. He's worked for Miami Metro for how many years and did it not even cross his mind that reporting a body on 911 that is pertinent to a high profile investigation could possibly raise a red flag?

I wonder if this was the last we've seen of Gellar since Travis now fully realizes he's dead.

I was a little surprised that they managed to get Jordana Spiro to play that Whack job's wife. I almost didn't recognize her if it wasn't for her raspy voice.

I personally thought the Jimmy Smits season (season 3?) dragged ass.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been loving the comedy with Quinn and Batista. Quinn waking up in the parking lot after getting shit faced yet again and then Batista smacking him after he fell asleep was awesome.

Interview with Scott Buck, Dexter's showrunner, about this episode. Alot of interesting tidbits.
