It's been my observation that in the industrialized Western world, that the sexual abuse of little girls is taken much more seriously than little boys. That is when a girl is molested or raped, she receives counseling and concern and the perpetrator is nailed the wall, whereas a little boy is supposed to "walk it off" (and deal with torturous sexual identity issues).

I put to anyone that if all the sexual abuse that has been going on in the Catholic Church happened to "altar girls" there would be no Catholic Church left and the Pope (current and previous) would be facing charges at the Hague for the cover-up.

You think Letterman or Leno would be making light of the situation in Penn State if it were 10 year old girls? Don't think so.

Yes, reverse sexism does exist--and *no* it is not as prevalent as regular sexism, but it does exist--and little boys have to "man up" and pay the price for society's willful ignorance.

I haven't heard anyone say that the Penn State victims should just "walk it off". Did Letterman or Leno said they should? Yes, that is a serious question as I haven't been keeping up on the story.

They'd get a slap on the wrists. Your point?

Oh...are you implying boys are men at any age and therefore...should "walk it off"?

Who the hell is saying these boys need to "walk it off" anyway?

And if it were grown women taking advantage of little boys...

...the degree of her guilt is inversely proportional to her physical attractiveness.

PatD, I have never once witnessed what you are talking about. To me it seems sexual abuse of boys and girls is taken very seriously in America.

The only place you see a bit of sexual bias is when it's an older woman molesting a teenage boy...then a lot of people make jokes, but our courts take it very seriously and many women have been sentenced to prison for consorting with boys.

That gives new meaning to "Tie A (Yellow) Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree."

Yellow ribbons wouldn't fit around a bonsai tree, much less an oak.

Agreed. When abuse happens to prepubescent kids, it is pretty universally condemned and taken quite seriously. When it is some 24 year old gal who has sex with some kid Justin Beiber's age, we see it for how stupid the "crime" is.
