I figure this is as good a place to ask as any. Are the networks no longer doing November sweeps?

I think the Big 4 networks are still airing new episodes through November/early December.
CW shows like this are an exception because of how heavily serialized it is and how they need to split the season to fill out the 36 week schedule.

Plus every other show, aside from VD, got an additional episode or two this Season. Odd though they are stopping this early in November though. Figured we would get at least one more episode.

Pretty good, but not awesome finale.
80% of the episode was damn good, but the last part kind of lost me.
I didn't really understand Katherine's conversation with Stefan and what they are attempting to do. Also, what did Stefan take from the truck?
So Stefan is no longer compelled to Klaus, but he's still a cold asshole with no human emotions.
The best part of the episode was Stefan saving Klaus and Michael getting killed. Once Michael stabbed "Elena" in the back, I knew that it was Katherine. That whole sequence was really cool.
Hopefully they explain things a little better when they come back in January.

I don't know what their play is though. They have to have some sort of endgame, but I'm not sure what it is yet.
The one part I didn't like was that I think Michael would have known it was Katherine. He's a vampire killer, he should have been able to tell I think, but I'm not sure.
I don't know why Klaus didn't run and kill Damon right away though. My only guess is that he knows that Damon will protect Elena, which he still needs if he wants more hybrids.
Without that dagger, which I assume burned in the fire, I'm guessing only Bonnie can find a way to get rid of Klaus now.
Elena stabbing Rebecca in the back was cold blooded. I really like her character, but I still loved that scene.

Okay, thanks I didn't realize Klaus brought his family to Mystic Falls. What family though? His mother and Michael are dead. He doesn't know that Rebecca is staked. Who else is there? Elijah? He's been MIA since last season. Not counting last week's flashback episode. I do remember Klaus and Stefan returning to Mystic Falls in that truck several weeks ago, but didn't realize he brought "family" with him.
Yeah I'm not sure what Stefan's endgame is. Now that the stake is burned to a crisp, I'm sure Klaus is going to be around until May.
I have to assume that Michael knew Katherine was subbing for Elena. I loved her throwing the bombs at the hybrids.
And yeah I loved Elena stabbing Rebecca in the back. Rebecca seemd like she was becoming more sympathetic after learning of Klaus' betrayal.

Stefan and Katherine's #1 priority was to keep Damon alive. If Klaus died so did Damon. Getting free of Klaus' compulsion was a nice bonus. Now that Stefan has his family he also has leverage to keep Klaus in line.

I'm guessing the decayed bodies of the mother, the fourth sibiling (Henry?) and maybe a few from the werewolf father's side.

I thought mom was a witch. So she's not one of them in the coffin.
I was looking forward forward to Mikael tearing shit up once Klaus was dead but oh well.
Thought the hybrids died a little too easily. I know they are advancing the story but...eh

They dispatched Michael too easily, but I felt the casting for him was all wrong from the beginning. I'm not really sure what they plan to do with Damon in the long run, this season has softened his character in a completely different direction. He is now Elena's faithful lap dog and I doubt the CW lets Elena cheat on Stefan, even if he is going around as a killer now.
