I'm a huge fan of the original, so I have high hopes. I got a free copy from work but I wanted to see if anyone else had impressions before I cracked it open.

It's on my wish list but I have a good feeling this will drop in price pretty fast.
So far most of the reviews I have read have been very positive, with the only major complaints being the outdated graphics.

I picked up the Wii version when that came out, then got the PS3 version for review. It's essentially the same game (graphics included), but it's a hell of a lot of fun. If you liked the N64 Goldeneye, you should like this. Just know that it looks like a Wii game. Very last gen graphics.

It just has terrible timing. BF3, MW3 and Skyrim all have priority for me.

Terrible time for them to release this game. I will wait for a price drop.

I had a blast playing the wii version. Would love to tackle it again with a 360 controller and online MP, but... not at full price.

I LOVED this game on the N64. It was so ahead of its time--splitscreen, teams, unlockable cheats, bots etc.
But yeah, its going to have to wait--My plate is full this month.

I rented it from Redbox. Definitely not worth $60. The levels are barely reminiscent of the original and overly complicated. They don't have the rights to the original so Alec Trevelyan is not Sean Bean, Famke Janssen, etc. Annoying. The music is totally different.
The original game was so much fun and this isn't fun at all. It's constant waves and waves of bad guys, all doing the same thing. Poor cover system and an extremely poor saving system (example, wipe out 3 waves of guys but die on the 4th wave, start over and have to kill all waves over again).

DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. GAME.
I just unloaded it tonight. I really regret paying $54. Once you get past the initial "prologue" set of missions, the game barely resembles Goldeneye. Multiplayer was initially fun, but full of gltiches and a barren player base. After a few hours invested, you learn everyone plays shotguns and nothing else.
I'm done with Activision for the time being. This game might have passed on the Wii, but on the 360 it's an absolute crime. This should have debuted at $40 max, or better yet, $20 on XBLA (like CRYSIS).

1. original actors replaced including Bond
2. it's a whole new game, not a remake
3. Wii graphics
4. it's Activision
I'm surprised anyone was interested at all.

Any thoughts on the bundle? You get the game and PS3 Move hardware, for $150 though I'm thinking it will be a little cheaper somewhere next weekend (after Thanksgiving).
As for the game itself, IGN gave it an 8.5

I can tell you from experience, some online games are great in pre-release testing stages. I reviewed BREACH and playing w/ developers and other media types, had a blast. Once the game went live to the public, the cracks in the infrastructure were apparent and the lack of developer attention and support killed a game out of the starting gate. Had I been reviewing that "version" of BREACH, I'd have trashed it big time.
I have no doubt the multiplayer for GOLDENEYE likely ran smoothly during the pre-release phase, but my experiences were riddled with developer side issues that made the game unplayable at least 25% of the time and should have been patched a day or two after launch. I was able to dump the game at Best Buy for nearly $40 in trade, so I cut the my losses before word got out it was a turd.
I might have been more forgiving if the thing were $40 max at launch, not $60.

There's a patch now that makes the multiplayer smoother. I opened my copy and started playing through the campaign, and it's pretty good once you get over the fact that it's not a shot for shot remake of the original. I like it a lot, albiet it's a little easy (even on the hardest difficulty).
I've only played one round of the multiplayer last night before bed, but it's...okay. Nothing to draw you in like CoD.

Saw this bundle at BB yesterday for $99, FYI. Marked as a Special price, down from $149.

Great point here. I played Breach at PAX East and it was a huge hit at the show. But that game totally fell apart at launch.

I just finished the campaign, and sure it was fun for a mindless FPS, but as a Bond game, especially lifting the Goldeneye story, it falls flat on it's face. There is barely any story in the game. Aside from re-creating certain areas from the movie, had I not seen the movie or played the N64 game, I would have no idea what was going on, other then i'm Bond and i'm killing 100+ people a level.
I paid $30 for this on BF weekend, and it's not worth a penny more.

I liked the Quantum of Solace game a lot better. Seemed to handle better and didn't feel forced.

I liked it too, but in the wake of BLACK OPS and more refined usages of the Modern Warfare engine, it's too clunky.

I enjoyed Goldeneye: Reloaded. It's not sophisticated and it plays like an homage to the original... with an entirely different story line. With the exception of two levels (the tank level and the last) I enjoyed each of the missions.
Plus the multi-player split screen is still a lot of fun. Nostalgia and all that definitely helps.

I played the demo on Live. I thought it was pretty cool, but the demo ended kind of abruptly. This is something I will pick up a few months from now.

I picked it up at that price the weekend after Thanksgiving; it's also currently that price at Amazon.
Haven't opened it yet since it's a Christmas gift. At $99 it seems like a good deal... as long as the game is decent and especially if the gun can be used with other games.

A friend of mine let me borrow this and I started it over the weekend. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure, you can't be expecting MW3 or Gears level of beauty, but most know that going in. It plays just like you would think a sequel/re-imagining should. I've only done the first couple of levels, but I'm looking forward to getting back to it. I'd say it's a perfect $20 title... for the single player. I have no interest in the MP.
Also, there is a cheat code to help you knock out 5 achievements if you know you aren't going to spend a lot of time with the game. It's really cheap though, good for people on a rental but probably not advised for those that bought the game and want to get their money's worth out of it:
The code is: "Quimbecile" before you start the game.
It will give you an automatic 4-star rating on all the M16 levels. You still have to play through each level to trigger the cheevos, but don't have to worry about your rating. That's good for 3 of them for 80 gamerscore.
Also if you put the code in prior to starting the single player game, it will unlock 2 of them (25 pts) for "completing all objectives for every mission on Operative & Agent difficulty." They will unlock after you finish the first level on Agent or higher. I tried it on 007 Classic and it didn't unlock the other two tied to those skill levels(007 & 007 Classic).
