i realize most of you who are on Verizon are on unlimited data, so this won't affect you, but for those of you who aren't on unlimited, you can now get 4gb for $30 or 10gb for $50 for 4G phones only.

Additionally, for the light users, 300mb for $20. This is good for all phones.

This is bullshit. Why can't I get 4gb for $30 on my iPhone 4S? What does 3G have anything to do with data use? Bastards!

Probably because they are pushing 4g phones, trying to get more market share since att has an additional 4g network out there now, and 4gb for att is $45 unless you are grandfathered

Don't all Android phones with 4G have a toggle of some kind? 4G phones can still use 3G.

That's not the point. The point is that this new deal is for 4G phones only, and the new iPhone is not a 4G phone and therefore does not qualify.

Well, the promo applies to 4GLTE smartphone only, not 3G android or other wise.

What does 3G have anything to do with data use?
Verizon's "4G" LTE is a completely separate network from their 3G one, and likely has more available bandwidth at the moment. This means that Verizon can provide more data for cheaper to LTE phones than on the congested 3G network, where doing so would likely cause it to slow down even more due to increased traffic.

could be too many iphones being sold and verizon wants more phones on their LTE network

I don't plan to download more than 2Gb a month so going to 4Gb is not a big issue for me. Its just the fact that I'm getting less for the same amount that others are paying that annoys me. Plus the fact that on this network in the past three weeks I've had my iphone I've never gotten download speeds higher than 0.4 mb. I was really expecting a consistent 1-2mb download speed. Not Apples fault but Verizon really disappointed me with their speed around here.
