I don't have online access for the 360, but I do like shooters with good campaigns.

Are there any good shooters out there with a really good campaign story? Many shooters out there I have heard have just marginal campaign stories, because the real reason is for the multi-player experience.

Does either of the new shooters, Battlefield or MW3 have good campaign modes?

They're kinda dated now, but Half-Life 2 and its follow-up "episodes" were great singleplayer games. And you might enjoy some games that are considered RPGs (Fallout 3, Mass Effect/ME2) because they have a lot of shooting. ME is technically 3rd person, but it plays a lot like first-person.

The original MW had a pretty good campaign. MW2 was kinda ridiculous though.

I liked MW & MW2 campaigns, probably can be had for cheap now, along with Bioshock, which I didn't love, but can appreciate that some people did. I would wait on MW3, if you're just doing it for single-player, might as well wait and get it cheaper down the line.

Half-Life 2

If you want something more recent, go fro Crysis 2 - besides having some of the best graphics on the 360, the campaign is one of the longer ones for an FPS, close to 10 hours, with some great fire-fights, scenarios, power-ups, etc.

Definitely agree with Orange Box/Half Life 2. That game is easily the best single player FPS game I've played. Outstanding everything - story is solid, characters are great with good voice acting, awesome graphics and art design, and the gameplay is perfect. Tons of variety. Plus, with Orange Box, you're basically getting three games.

Other than that, I also agree with BioShock. If you're looking for military shooters though, I would recommend the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game as well - good, realistic campaign.

Games not yet mentioned... I would check out Portal 2 and Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 is pretty underrated I think, even if the whole medicine thing is kind of annoying.

Halo - I think all variations have a pretty good story.
Bioshock 1/2 - Both are very good.
Half-Life 2 - This game is a classic and shouldn't be missed.
Call of Duty MW 1 and 2 - Story is decent and worth playing.
Borderlands - This is an awesome game with tons of weapons.

I liked the campaings of MW as well as Halo and am not much of an MP fan.

Riddick for the Xbox was a blast, but I haven't played the 360 version yet. Half-Life 2, as suggested, is great.

The game is way too long, but Far Cry 2 is something to check out if you want something different. It's very open, unlike the mostly linear FPS' out there.

MW1 & 2 were my favorite campaigns ever, and I highly recommend Halo (next Tuesday is the 10th anniversay release). I thought Bioshock was great, but didn't care for Bio2.

You can't go wrong with Orange Box. Half Life 2 is all around probably the best game I have ever played.

I would also second Call of Duty 4 (MW 1). I played it very recently to get ready for MW3 and it is fantastic. Quality story, varied and well paced gameplay, it still looks great, and its a ton of fun. I wouldn't rank MW2 as highly. Still fun but just not as good in my opinion. Would definitely check it out though.

I haven't played this but a friend at work has (still is) and he said this game seems to have no ending but is pretty good.

Some of the early COD games were a blast and good. I did like COD :World at War.

Don't forget about Rainbow Six:Las Vegas....I really liked that game an good story and game play.

Borderlands for sure but the coop experience is so much better.


For quick insane fun then Bulletstorm would fit the bill.

Crysis 2 is $10 at Gamefly right now. Probably the best single player campaign I've played this year.

yeah, I snagged Medal of Honor for the 360 for $10, and the single player campaign was pretty good...
