The Simpsons -- "Treehouse of Horror XXII" -- 10/30/11

"Treehouse of Horror XXII"
Spoiler:
In the spooky opener of the 22nd annual installment of "Treehouse of Horror," Homer takes a dangerous dive into an isolated canyon on Candy Peak, but when a crashing boulder traps his arm, he channels Aron Ralston (guest voicing as himself) to save himself. In "The Diving Bell and Butterball," the first of three hair-raising Halloween tales, a venomous spider bite leaves Homer paralyzed, but when Lisa discovers Homer's ability to communicate through natural gases, he is able to express his love for Marge. The killer spells continue in "Dial D for Diddly," when Ned Flanders, devout preacher by day, transforms into a cold-blooded vigilante by night. In the final terrifying tale, "In the Na'Vi," Bart and Milhouse are assigned on a mission to access a sacred extract on a distant planet. They morph into the land's indigenous one-eyed avatars, but when Bart finds love and an eternal mate abroad, he is caught in planet warfare in the all-new "Treehouse of Horror XXII" episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Oct. 30 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SI-2219) (TV-PG D, L, V)

Voice Cast: Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson; Julie Kavner as Marge Simpson; Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson and Nelson; Yeardley Smith as Lisa Simpson; Harry Shearer as Skinner; Pamela Hayden as Milhouse; Tress MacNeille as Dolph

Guest Voice Cast: Aron Ralston as himself

I appreciate the Breaking Bad spoof, but couldn't they have found something a little less juvenile than farting? I got a laugh out of a paralyzed Spider-Man though.

When was the last time they actually aired a Halloween episode before Halloween? I seriously can't remember.

I didn't much care for the first or last segments, but the middle segment was pretty good. Although, where were Kang and Kodos this year?

The intro and the middle story were good, the first one seemed like half of an idea at best. Neither that nor the Avatar one were spooky at all.

it was probably 2-4 years ago. most of the time they just wait until after due to the World Series.

I was thinking the same thing. I want to say 15 years ago. Usually they've been showing this in Nov. The world series never goes past Halloween. Last year Halloween was on a Sunday and they stll didn't shoit.

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse of Horror XXII" -- 10/30/11

I liked the second segment the most especially the Dexter parody. First one was funny (albeit crude) and I didn't really care for the third one at all.

The intro was pretty good too. Seems like a typical Treehouse of Horror of the past few years. Some good ideas and some bad ones mixed in together.

The Diving Bell and the Butterball wasn't a Breaking Bad spoof...

Well, it certainly played like a Breaking Bad spoof when Homer spelled out "DEA" just like Hector did in Breaking Bad. That, and I didn't see the title of the segment beforehand, nor have I seen that movie (obviously).

He didn't spell out DEA. He spelled out Dear, which you heard in the next segment when Lisa was seated next to him with a notebook and a pencil.

Re: The Simpsons -- "Treehouse of Horror XXII" -- 10/30/11

Pretty funny overall. Intro was good - loved Homer dressed as Doctor Manhattan.

First segment was OK. Second was funny - good end with Maude and the Devil and Ned's "Oh come on!" Third one was pretty good, too.

You don't watch baseball at all...do you? Last year, World Series didn't end until Nov 1. '09 was Nov 4th.

This was just awful. Not like how it used to be
