In all seriousness though, this show has some of the worst writing on television.

I read the comics, and therefore this show does not meet my standard of excellence.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Bloodletting" -- 10/23/11

I heard a rumor that the producers, actors and writers of the Walking Dead raped and murdered a girl in 1990. I don't think it's true that the producers, actors and writers of the Walking Dead raped and murdered a girl in 1990, and you definitely shouldn't repeat that the producers, actors and writers of the Walking Dead might have raped and murdered a girl in 1990.

Oh and on the positive side, at least they're not in the church anymore! Edit: They're in a different building!

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Bloodletting" -- 10/23/11

I actually thought the 6 episodes they showed in the "first season" were pretty good and engrossing. For all the problems, I thought there was a lot to look forward to and these first 2 episodes have been really awful. I'm not sure, on a very crowded Sunday, if this can stay in the mix much longer.

Same. I didn't have these complaints about S1. When did the dead start running so fast?

Was I the only one thinking of...

...when Shane and the fat guy were running?

Yeah, this show is playing pretty fast and loose with the physical abilities of the zombies.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Bloodletting" -- 10/23/11

Lori was being a real bitch to the doctor and about Otis. Andrea too, come to think of it.

Leave it to the redneck to have a bag full of meds. No hillbilly heroin?

I guess we know that the dead have a flocking instinct. Friends are important, even with rotting corpses.

I don't think they've been all over the place with the zombie rules. Those zombies weren't really running, Otis managed to evade them. Even up a flight of stairs. The weak point of the series so far has been the performances. Shrill and hammy. Good thing we've got Scott Wilson and Pruitt Taylor Vince to class up the joint.

Well that was certainly better than the season premiere.

One big wtf moment came when Andrea was having a conversation with some of the other characters and all of the sudden a (stealth?) zombie appears out of nowhere and she's now 40 yards away from the group.

I'm definitely not one to gloss over some of the issues for this show, but that said, I enjoyed this episode a lot more than last week's. At least they re-addressed that one dude's huge gash that he got on his arm. I liked some of the character moments too. (How long are they gonna go searching for that girl in the woods?)

Movie/TV cliche #17 Doctors are in short supply but you'll always be able to find a veterinarian up for doing surgeries on people.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Bloodletting" -- 10/23/11

I don't understand how the girl got lost in the first place; why didn't she just stay there in the safe thicket and wait for Rick to kill the zombies? And Rick's just as dumb for how he handled the situation. There were only two zombies. He could've just killed them right there and not led them off in the other direction. Or he could've picked up the girl and run back to the RV.

---

This was a better episode than the premiere, but that's not saying much since the writing is still god awful. Lori was pretty ridiculous this episode. I mean, the shooting was an accident and you have two people that are at least more qualified than anyone you know to operate on your kid. I get that she was upset, but it felt like a bit too much. It was nice to see a different pocket of survivors who appear to be handling things a little differently.

The whole racism thing felt pretty forced the two rednecks were the only ones that ever treated him any differently. And did he actually talk about them lynching him? I'm glad the old guy at least recognized that Daryl saved T-Dog's life in the premiere.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Bloodletting" -- 10/23/11

Decent episode. I don't really see any issues with the writing though, its understandable that Lori would be upset and worried and bitchy, and I was just under the impression that T-Dog's fever from the cut was one of the reasons he went off on that racism tirade.

The only thing that bothered me was Andrea all of a sudden being alone as well.

Maybe I'm confused with something else, but was it not explained last season that any sort of wound could cause someone to turn? Like that cut could give him that fever before becoming a zombie?

What? No, that's utterly ridiculous. Only zombie-bites turn people.

By your logic, everyone who got a slight nick would turn into a zombie. No one in the world would still be human. Do you really think none of these characters have been cut until now? Hell, Rick was still hooked up to an IV in the series premiere.

That scene was funny given she was lecturing Carol last week about blaming Rick for Sophia.

They've made al the women on this show into total bitches.

Liked the nod to Breaking Bad with the blue meth in Daryl's brother's bag of drugs.

Exactly. He was delirious and irrational from the fever.

Are you always so angry? Also, you shouldn't be so quick to brush aside my question as it was something in the Zombie Survival Guide:

Spoiler:
The first chapter 'The Undead: Myths and Realities' outlines Solanum, the fictional virus that creates a zombie, along with details on how it is spread (such as through an open wound, when coming in contact with infected blood or saliva), and treatment of the infected (such as suicide or amputation of the bitten/scratched limb, though amputation rarely works). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide

Back to the show; finally saw the episode, it's just plodding along and I can see the obnoxious potential but hopefully they won't go too far. I wonder if they'll touch on the herds gathering in high-traffic areas with respect to future encounters.
