Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Torn between her loyalties to the Circle and her family, Cassie (Britt Robertson) wrestles with the secrets she must keep from her grandmother (Ashley Crow). Nick (Louis Hunter) is thrown for a loop when Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy) adopts a new attitude and enlists his help to track down her family's Book of Shadows. Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) is also recruited but isn't happy about being the third wheel. Meanwhile, Diana (Shelley Hennig) is craving some alone time with Adam (Thomas Dekker) and arranges a date night so they can rekindle the spark in their relationship, but all six of them are brought together to fight off a dark force that threatens to destroy the Circle from within. Completely unaware of the new danger encroaching on their children, Dawn (Natasha Henstridge) joins Charles (Gale Harold) aboard his boat to further their plans for the Circle, but is surprised to find that Charles may have more than business on his mind. Liz Friedlander directed the episode written by Dana Baratta (#105).

Possessed Melissa was kind of funny... and grandma got to show off what she could do.

Spoiler:
So they've already bumped off a member of the circle by ep. 5. Nick was the weakest link, but surprising move nonetheless. Hope it's permanent, but I'm guessing he'll get brought back somehow.

Did they just really kill the hottest guy on this show?
Are they going to bring him back?

I doubt he's really gone.

Is Thomas Dekker wearing makeup?

Pretty shocking buildup and I'm glad they kept the storyline going from the week before. I was afraid we'd end up in a "witch of the week" scenario, but they've already bucked that a bit.

I bet he's really gone. The Vampire Diaries does stuff like this too which is one of the main reasons I love that show.

I can't look him the same after seeing this video:

Was shocked about the kid getting killed but from what I have read on the net, he was originally signed on a temporary basis.

Killing Nick off so early was probably a planned stunt. Notice how in his arc he had already gone from bad boy to caring boyfriend in the span of three episodes. Though having one of the parents do the deed was a little lame.

Why? I thought that was a really intense and effective scene. It also gave us some insight into the parents. They're not as nefarious as we thought. Charles was genuinely upset at killing Nick.

He knew he was a temp from the start.
All the pics of him in the ad campaign were a ruse.

You can't be that upset over killing a child but having no remorse whatsoever about killing Cassie's mother.

This is not a guy you're supposed to have any level of sympathy for after his actions in the first episode. That whole remorse of his took me right out of the episode.

Re: The Secret Circle -- "Slither" -- 10/13/11

Good episode. Pretty crazy move to kill off one of the Circle this early in the game.

From a character standpoint, I didn't really have alot of attachment to Nick other than him being the dude with no shirt who's banging Melissa.

I want Faye to go back and be the sassy bad girl with attitude. That IMO is alot hotter than her being nice as she was most of this episode.

I'm not sure I buy Charles being remorseful for drowning Nick especially after as Evan just said how cold blooded he was killing Cassie's Mom. But, from a different perspective accidentally killing an innocent teenager might be different for him than killing an adult.

Re: The Secret Circle -- "Slither" -- 10/13/11

i had thought that they were gonna drown dude to kill off the demon, and then use that stone to bring him back (like the principle did with the girl)

but they had to leave him there because people were coming and they didnt want to be discovered

We still don't have a clue as to what really happened with the parents and the boat house. Cassie's mom was portrayed as a saint and the other parents as evil and when the remorse hits at killing one of the kids, it makes me want them to explore the circles background more, especially Grandmas and the parents.

Charles kept saying I killed a kid. If it's an adult - he's okay with that.

And isn't the stone the have basically powerless now?

I just think it would have driven the story in a more interesting direction if one of the teenagers had been forced to kill Nick so early in the series. The parents are not the focus of the show and can easily be written off, just like what happened in the Vampire Diaries. I doubt the killer survives this season.

Well, we don't really know what his relationship was with Cassie's mom. Maybe he hated her for whatever reason... rejected lover? So maybe he had an additional motive for killing her and thus no remorse.

I had trouble getting past the whole drowning. They never heard of CPR? WTF?

I'm guessing the parents didn't want anyone to find them with the body.

Does this mean the circle is broken? A couple weeks back that fisherman who tried to kill Cassie said it would stop them.

Yes, the circle is broken.
I’m guessing a new member will show up and make the circle whole again. I’m also glad that Grandma is an ass-kicking witch. This series started slow, but is definitely picking up steam.

Spoiler:
You'd be correct. Chris Zylka is appearing next week as Nick's older brother. It's a recurring role, so he'll likely be joining the circle in no time.
