The Pretty Reckless

They opened for Evanescence and rocked the building last night. Lead singer is a cute 18 year old female who used to be an actress. If you like rock music with a female singer, this is the band to check out.

I love their debut record, it's got some great rock tracks on it. I think the band has some nice potential.

The lead singer sometimes reminds me of Cherie Currie with the stockings/garter belt.

Re: The Pretty Reckless

I saw Pretty Reckless earlier this year in support of their album's US release. Great songs and she demonstrates a real strength in her lyrics. Hard to believe she's only 18. I look forward to hearing more from them soon.

i figured people would have thought the chick from Gossip Girl a joke. Nicely surprised to hear positive reviews and makes me think this is worth looking into

I saw The Pretty Reckless on Letterman about a year ago. It was a surprise to realize who the singer was (and how much she has grown up).

Re: The Pretty Reckless

Yeah, had NO idea she was an actress until I started looking up her information after the concert. For those that have seen her live, what do you think? Saw some crazy things on youtube and wish she got that wild on Tuesday lol. Crazy how young she is and how much headlines she has made for showing her boobs (though it was taped) and dancing with fans on stage. LOVE IT. Music is really good and totally thought of Runaways when I was seeing her. She does have that sound and look. I'm hoping they keep growing and I'm def going to have to see when they come back to So Cali. And it's a def must check out CD.

So has she pretty well dropped out of acting to take this up full time, then?

She quit acting for the band. Look like she didn't care much for the Letterman gig.

Movie people may also know her as the little girl in Jim Carrey's version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I would be pissed off too, if I had to be forced to play with that idiot on the keyboards.

Great band. Nice to see so many people taking them seriously instead of being the typical music snob and writing them off without giving them a chance.

Re: The Pretty Reckless

I just discovered this band today. The lead singer is now 20 and she was in Spy Kids 2 and The Grinch way back in the day.

I really dig the tunes and it helps that she's smoking hot, too. I like the programming in their songs:

Re: The Pretty Reckless

I saw them this past October here in Indy. Not the best show. I don't know what kind of performances they've put on for other cities, but they barely played for an hour, and the sound wasn't very good. She's a good singer, but they either had the band turned up too loud and drowned her out, or she just isn't very powerful live.

They have a new album dropping on 2/12:

The new single is pretty awesome and Tom Morello plays guitar on it:

Re: The Pretty Reckless

Their new album is really good. Lots of old-fashioned hard rock tracks and ballads. Also, if you get the vinyl version, there is an "interesting" photo of Taylor Momsen on the inside.
