House -- Season Premiere -- "Twenty Vicodin" -- 10/03/11
By djariya at 2011-09-22
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Once again if you didn't already know. Lisa Edelstein left the show after last season because of a salary dispute. They brought in Odette Annable as a new series regular. Olivia Wilde will reportedly be MIA for most of the season.
It's not official, but it's speculated that this will be the final season. It's the last year of Hugh Laurie's contract and FOX had problems negotiating with Universal to get the show renewed because of budgetary reasons.

That's the new chick next to Chase? Hmm, she ain't no Cuddy! And I was hoping for a medicine man version of House, but based off commercials it looks like that won't be the case. Too bad that 13 will be gone most of the season again...

I don't believe they have announced who the new Dean of Medicine is.

I haven't watched House in years. I did watch the premier when he was in the mental institution. I felt that was good, but I understand he turned right back into 'House' after that, which is the reason I stopped watching. As much as I enjoy House being House, he's never had any substantive character development.
Anyway, this looks like it could be a good episode to watch for the drama of House coping with life in jail.

I watched last season and had totally forgotten what happened. I kept seeing promos and couldn't figure out why House was in jail.

Oh Christ. That Charlyne Yi girl is just the drizzling shits. I remember her from Knocked Up and a couple other things. I'm not 100% sure if her delivery and awkward thing is her schtick or how she really is, but it is incredibly nauseating either way. Thank Jebus for Odette Annable to hopefully balance it out.

Was the driving into her home shown last season or was it in between seasons?
And I'm not a regular viewer but I feel your pain in adding Charlene Yi to the cast...

Now that was a pretty damn good House episode. In a way it was the prison version of "Broken" from 2 years ago. A little surprised that it wasn't a David Shore scripted episode.
He had some great interactions with the other prisoners including Jude Ciccollella's character.
at his psycho cellmate saving him from getting shanked.
I'm looking forward to next week and see how they explain Cuddy leaving (If they explain it)

Late in season 6, House and Cuddy's relationship bloomed and eventually they started dating. He softened up alot. They had a relationship through 3/4 of season 7 and most House fans (not including me as I liked their relationship) hated "Huddy"
Cuddy eventually broke up with him and this time House became a vengeful and spiteful asshole and tried punishing Cuddy for the breakup, which led to him going to jail.

I felt it was boring. Different setting, same tired, bitchy House using his witty insults to make everyone love him as he keeps guess diagnosees until he gets it right with a minute left in the episode. Ugh. If this wasn't likely the final season, I'd probably be dropping this series which I have faithfully watched since episode 1 aired.

^ 7 years of any procedural is a lot.

I thought the episode was ok, but predictable as far as what would happen. It wasn't hard to guess House's cellmate would help him, help the sick guy and risk himself, and take a working interest in the doctor.

LOVED it. Great unique way to start the season/reset the series. Glad the Huddy thing is over (hated it), and I'm interested to see where they go with things now. Hope it's not the final season.
