Many Thanks! I've added everything that's available via Blockbuster mailing DVDs to my home to my queue (almost all of them are available!) I've noticed that Mimsy Farmer is in a number of the titles. I loved her in "Riot on Sunset Strip" with her perfectly choreographed acid trip and "Road to Salina".

I was watching the movie "Giallo" with Adrien Brody on one of the premium cable channels the other day, and thought it was knock-off/tribute to Dario Argento's films.

When it was over, the credits rolled and I discovered that it actually was directed by Dario Argento.

Mooreth Koonem Boz was one of the best films I saw as far as Giallo is concerned, is he concerned?

It went through its fair share of production troubles... including the producers essentially having Argento on set to use his name. He had very little creative control.

In New York, Channel 9 used to run a lot of these on TV back in the late '70s and '80s. That's how I first saw a lot of Argento and Bava titles. Also, the 42nd Street theaters used to run them (dubbed in English, of course), but they rarely got shown theatrically outside of that, as I recall. Except for the more high-profile ones, like Argento's SUSPIRIA, which I saw at a Bronx neighborhood theater.

I do remember, though, seeing a more obscure one at another Bronx theater. It was called WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS? and it had quite a good cast, including Mario Adorf, Giovanna Ralli, and Farley Granger, although, to my disappointment, Granger, a onetime Hollywood star, was dubbed by somebody else. The movie itself wasn't very good and the Friday night crowd felt cheated, so we all moved en masse to the theater next door, which was playing SILVER STREAK, with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, which had opened recently (putting this in either Dec. 1976 or Jan. 1977). We walked in just as Richard Pryor entered the movie, so we got there in time for the good part. A hefty security guard had been standing just outside the front entrance of the theater. I watched him as we made our migration. He turned, saw what we were doing, and immediately turned away so as not to see what we were doing. Which made us all satisfied customers by the end of SILVER STREAK.

To be fair WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS leans heavily toward the Poliziotteschi genre. Its a pretty good one but not the best. It definitely does fit in the giallo genre but I think if you're looking for a pure giallo you will be disappointed a bit, which apparently was the case a couple decades ago too

I'm going to mention Suspiria, Inferno and Phenomena (I haven't watched Mother of Tears, so I'm not recommending it). Most people would say they're outliers if they even considered them giallo. Still, they are chock full of giallo elements. If you removed the fantasy elements, I think no one would have a problem accepting them as giallo.

I'll give you Phenomena but not Suspiria and Inferno even though they have a lot of giallo influence. Either way they're all excellent.

No problem. I'm behind in my viewing of them myself. DVDaf says I own about 60 of them which I know I haven't seen the majority of. Hoping to get through some of them this month for the horror challenge.
