DVD Talk review of 'Mike & Molly: The Complete First Season' (Blu-ray)

I read Ryan Keefer's DVD review of Mike & Molly: The Complete First Season at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=50661 and...

my wife and I don't watch a lot of broadcast TV anymore, more DVDs and Netflix. But we were looking for something new and happened to catch the first five minutes of an episode of this...

You know, a show like 2.5 Men can be bad, but still be somewhat entertaining in a trainwreck kind of way, but this was just absolutely abysmal. I cannot fathom how this got to the screen without somebody along the production chain saying, "hey wait, this isn't our usual stupid sitcom kind of stuff, this is really, really freaking awful." It's like it was done bad on a dare. Just unbelievable how something so horrible could get produced.

Cynically, I think Lorre and (presumably later) Burrows helped get it on air, and with Lorre just seeing the 2.5 Men premiere draw huge, there's a decent level of carte blanche there, sad to say.

Sorry you had to watch this, Keef. The wife and I tried a few episodes and were universally aggravated and amazed at the lowest-common-denominator values of this show.

Mike's cop partner is a repeat offender, uttering lines that probably wouldn't be funny to a sit-com newcomer in a way that deflates them completely. Same goes for the waiter at their favorite hangout, and everyone else.

It's as if no one is even trying.
