Can't get a decent schedule here at work to post. Someone else help. Tonight's game should be a shootout, so that should be fun.

TV Schedule here: http://lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm

Remember these times are in CST so adjust accordingly.

Usually that does not start till week 3 or 4. What ever leaves us with 10 weeks of play.

wanna bet? ND isn't just going to cover, they are winning by 10 points. They will put up 600 yards of offense on that D, and won't be turning it over 5 times two weeks in a row.

HAHA with a scrub like Rees under center? Don't let the WMU game fool you because Carder is 10x better than any QB on your roster. Rees cannot do what he did. We were also able to hold some stuff back and win comfortably while you had to throw everything including the kitchen sink at South Florida and still lost the game.

 typical Walverine delusions of grandeur. Tomorrow night is going to be extremely entertaining. Michigan *might* win, but only if ND beats itself again. I expect they won't and put up a lot of points...and their D is a tad better than western Michigan's

Bill Needle
09-10-11, 06:07 PM
Most likely heat stroke/dehydration related. Definitely not hit by a player. No ambulance, paramedics appear to be attending to him on the sideline. You could hear a pin drop in the stadium (@ Minnesota).

Bill Needle
09-10-11, 06:09 PM
Announcers now saying he once suffered seizures on the sidelines in 2005 as well.

Covering him in cold towels/ice.

Now carting him from field on stretcher/golf cart. Getting O2/IV treatment. Looks like he might be out of danger.

After all that Gophers face 4th down and fail to convert and lose the game. Sucks for the Gophers after it looked like they were going to come back before the incident. Hope the coach is OK.

268 yards of offense and only 17 points. they should be up 31-7.

HistoryProf
09-10-11, 08:46 PM
3 things that half tells me:

1. Denard can not throw the ball accurately more than 15 yards. that long TD was a glorified punt w/ horrible coverage.

2. Neither team is very good - but Michigan's D is still god awful. I figured they would improve from the 110s into the 70s or 80s nationally, but they'll be lucky to be better than 100th best in D1.

3. Michael Floyd is fucking good. He's going to win them games all by himself.

who is #4 for ND? every single big play was him with his back to the play in coverage with no clue of where the ball or the WR was. Cousins is going to torch him next week. Their D has been pretty shitty for years now. I remember when Jamarcus Russell torched them in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. I'm almost tempted to check about when the last time it was that Notre Dame had a defensive player drafted in the 1st round. Te'o will be drafted in round 1 if/when he declares though.

whoopdido
09-10-11, 11:02 PM
I heard a guy on Sirius Radio a few days ago say that he's going to start referring to Notre Dame as South Bend University. I think he's onto something. They don't even resemble Notre Dame anymore. It pains me to say this as a lifelong Notre Dame fan but they are completely and utterly irrelevant in today's college football game.

I don't know if it's coaching or what, but shit like that just should not happen. They pissed away the entire game but somehow managed to go up with 30 seconds left and then they do that? What the fuck?

For years now I've been saying that they're in a funk but will pull out of it eventually. All programs go through funks. Notre Dame has been in a funk for almost 20 years. They've done absolutely nothing since 1993. I've simply had enough. I'll always be a fan, but I just don't care anymore. They should just join the Ivy League and play Harvard, Yale, Brown, etc just for fun. It's happened many times. Harvard used to be a power. Army used to be a power. Pennsylvania used to be a power. And Notre Dame used to be a power. Those other teams pretty much just play football for fun as they can't compete nationally. Notre Dame should go with the same mindset.

HistoryProf
09-10-11, 11:11 PM
I don't think it's quite that dire, but they do need to get a real coach. They've simply made terrible hires. Kelly was always a one-trick pony with a bad temper that would never succeed at this level - and it's clear he's incapable of teaching fundamentals. That defense is proof of that, and the turnovers only emphasize it. Weiss and his decided schematic advantage was destined to fail as well. hell, the only decent coach they had was Willingham and they ran him out of town and then tried to blame the failures of the next 5 years on him.

They need a nuts and bolts coach who will teach them how to tackle and cover a lob pass. There's no shortage of talent there, but they have to stop trying to make the sexy hire and get a guy who teaches fundamentals. They CAN be relevant again, but it ain't happening with Kelly. This was in a lot of ways eerily similar to that epic meltdown in East Lansing in 2006 that helped MSU to finally rid itself of the horrid D under John L. Smith and hire Dantonio. Hopefully this will have the same impact for ND because it's more fun when they are good.

I hate Michigan and Notre Dame equally, but I know that if Notre Dame keeps it up, they might be stuck in mediocrity (or much, much worse) forever, while Michigan will for sure eventually get better. So I'm happy to see ND lose like this. Anything that can help stick them in the pits forever, I'm happy with.

i'm glad America got to see how bad a QB he actually is. They should be playing the guy behind him and make Denard a WR/RB athlete hybrid so when they have to pass they have someone who can. as you saw, if he tries to hit a target it sails 10 yards over them....his only option is to loft them up and pray the DB sucks.

Probably when people pay as much attention to other schools as they do to Notre Dame.

Do you not find it odd that a meaningless game between two unranked teams gets more posts than all of the other games of the weekend combined? Especially on a board with only a few fans of Notre Dame or Michigan?

It reminds me of the scene from the Howard Stern movie about his ratings. You can replace Howard Stern with Notre Dame, and it's still probably accurate.

Researcher: The average viewer watches for eighteen minutes. The average Notre Dame fan watches for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

Pig Vomit: How can that be?

Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see how they'll play next."

Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Notre Dame?

Researcher: Good point. The average Notre Dame hater watches for two and a half hours.

Pig Vomit: But... if they hate them, why do they watch?

Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see how they'll play next."

So that USC/Utah game apparently cost some bookies money. USC blocked the potentially game-tying fg, recovered it, and took it to the house but they weren't credited the TD because half the team came onto the field after the player recovered it. Thus they won by 3 and didn't beat the 8 1/2 point spread. Then later on the Pac 12 decides that the TD did count, so they won by 9. The bookies can't track down the guys they already paid out on the 3 point win, and they had to pay out the guys who now won on the 9 point win.

I still don't get how they can count that TD, you'd think they'd mark the play dead because the team ran on the field. Granted, they didn't blatantly interfere with anybody, but still.

Lesson is....never throw away your tickets. I watched that (and wondered about the line) - bizarre.

I heard a guy on Sirius Radio a few days ago say that he's going to start referring to Notre Dame as South Bend University. I think he's onto something.

Funny! My college buddies and I have been referring to them as North Indiana State for a few years now.

And as I type this NBC is pimping their game vs MSU next week by barely mentioning #15 MSU and the graphic only showing ND highlights and labeled as "ND Saturday."

inexplicably, ND comes out as a 4 to 5 point favorite vs. MSU depending on the site. Even when MSU sucked we were beating them (won 10 of the last 14, including 6 of 7 in South Bend (w/ the only loss two years ago when soph. cousins in his 3rd start threw a pick in the last minute as they drove for the winning score).

I look forward to enjoying another ND defeat next Saturday.

i do too....though i'd never guarantee it in this rivalry. what I can say is that MSU +5 is fucking CRAZY. This game is almost ALWAYS a 3 point or less margin. and the only games that haven't been in the last 15 years were MSU blow outs. I just don't understand that line....but maybe Domers are collectively delusional enough to bet it. It's actually gone from -3.5 to -5 since it opened today!

Scores since Dantonio arrived:

2007 Michigan State 31, Notre Dame 14 (South Bend)
2008 Michigan State 23, Notre Dame 7 (East Lansing)
2009 Notre Dame 33, Michigan State 30 (South Bend)
2010 Michigan State 34, Notre Dame 31 (OT) (East Lansing)

I think it will be in the 30s and MSU will pull it out, but Floyd scares me. probably something like 38-31 MSU. If ND manages to play error free, they could win 34-31 or there abouts again. it is HIGHLY unlikely that they will win by 6+ points given what we've seen. MSU has a good D-line and great skill position players on O. it will be a fun game.

Boise State loses 9 scholarships over the next 3 years:

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/6966240/ncaa-hands-boise-state-broncos-three-years-probation-scholarship-reduction

Boise State will now have its football scholarships reduced from 85 to 82 for the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.

They will now only be favored by 20 ppg in conference instead of 21.

Even more reason for the snobs to include them. They cheat just like 'em.

Who can blame them for cheating when faced with such a punishing schedule year after year.

Frankly, from what I've seen of the Big Ten so far, I wouldn't be bringing up conference schedules.

Boise's violations amounted to something like $80 per player and included violations such as allowing players to sleep on couches. Boise definitely can't hang with the big boys when it comes to cheating.

Boise State's cheating:

Boise State admits that during those years, coaches and staff members arranged summer housing and transportation for 63 incoming players. Forty of them received impermissible benefits, in the form of free or reduced-cost housing and transportation from current members of the team. The other 23 paid full price but had housing arranged by coaches or staff members, an NCAA violation.

The impermissible benefits totaled $4,934, which the players have repaid and donated to a local charity, the school said.

The horror.... the horror...

No thread for Week 3? I guess nobody watches college football. ;)

LSU can certainly play some defense.
