SCARFACE - Theatrical re-release
Received an email this morning stating that "Scarface" would be getting a theatrical rerelease starting Sept. 19th for one week only at the Loew's Georgetown theatre, here in Washington DC, before it's DVD release at the end of the month. I have no idea if other cities will see a rerelease but I would assume so.
Just thought I spread the word on this.

I believe this is getting a release in most of the "major" markets like New York, LA, Chicago, Washington, etc. I'm surprised Universal isn't doing a full scale re-release considering the demand for this film, but I guess they are still feeling a little burned after the E.T. failure of last year.

Just be sure to see it at a theater that is in a very black or mexican urban area.
Since the majority of it's fan base has never seen it in it's 1st release, so your going to get a certain experiance i imagine.

Will they be servin' 40's at the concession stand and offerin' blunts up and down the aisles of the play-hizzouse?
They should really advertise the re-release with a "complimentary gangsta revenge killing with each screening."
Peace, out.

Everyone is excited to see Tony Montana's rise to the top and fall to the bottom all over again," says Focus Features distribution head Jack Foley. "There's a new generation of "Scarface" fans who want to see this print on a big screen."

I saw it at Loews Boston Common on Saturday on a HUGE screen. Quite awesome, though the crowd clapped in some pretty disturbing places (I applauded for the tiger). Funny how much a movie can benefit from a theatrical screening - the "Hey man, you got a job" scene, for instance, always got a chuckle from me but actually played much more hilariously on the big screen.

Scarface is back in theaters
Scarface is returning to select theaters nationwide for one-night only on August 31 at 7:30pm. Al Pacino is Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who comes to Miami and becomes a drug cartel king during the cocaine boom of the 1908s. The digitally resorted film includes a mini featurette that will include interviews with popular filmmakers and talent on how this cult classic has influenced society and filmmaking through the years.

Fathom Events presents; Scarface one night only august 31st
The favorite crime drama will hit Blu-Ray for the first time on September 6th, but before that Brian De Palma's 1983 film Scarface featuring an iconic performance by veteran actor Al Pacino will return to theaters for a special screening on August 31st. NCM Fathom and Universal Studios Home Entertainment are partnering on the special event which will play in 475 theaters across the country presented in HD with enchanced audio. The screening will also include a look at a 20-minute special feature that includes interviews with various filmmakers and actors about how Scarface influenced cinema. More below!
Though I'd prefer to see a real film version of the flick on the big screen, this digital presentation is still a great way for viewers to experience the film on the big screen, especially those who may never have gotten a chance to see the film when it was in theaters nearly 30 years ago. To find the closest theater hosting the screening and get tickets for the event taking place at 7:30pm local time on August 31st, you can go to the Fathom Events page right here. Otherwise, if you're a real hardcore Scarface fan, you can pick up the limited edition Blu-Ray gift set that comes with an actual cigar humidor and more. Either way, there's some good stuff on the way for fans of the classic crime drama.

This will be my second time seeing this classic film on the big screen. Sad this wont be an actual film print though

I don't pay for digital projections of revival showings, so this is an easy pass. Besides, I can already imagine the crowd of assholes these screenings will attract.
