Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
2 and 3 were actually my two favorites so I am okay with this.
I wonder if 1 wasn't included because it was a PS1 game? Maybe more time and money to upgrade that to HD?

I will eventually get it since I like both games but I really wonder why SH1 is not included (I guess the PS1 thing). Perhaps they should do something like the Alice Madness game did. Release the original as an XBLA game and include a code in new copies to download it. That seems like a good comprimise.

Of course I am sad that part 1 is not included, but I'm pretty sure I beat that game 3 or 4 times anyways. I have only passed part 2 once, and 1/2 of part 3 so I'm looking forward to playing those again.

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I already have Part 1 as a PSN download, so this will suit me just fine. I guess it's a lot easier to do HD upgrades of PS2 games, but PS1 games would be a much bigger challenge.

How much you want to bet SH1 is not included because it was remade for the Wii?
I still have my PS1 copy of SH1. Also why is SH4 not included?

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I don't think SH1's exclusion is due to anything other than the fact that getting it into HD shape is a significantly harder endeavor than polishing up 2 & 3.

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
They should definitely spend a little bit extra and include a voucher for SH1 ps1 classic on psn. It's already run it's course on psn so it probably isn't selling much anymore anyways, and it would really get people to buy the ps3 version over the 360 if they have both systems.

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I'd rather them just include a non-hd of the first game and include it (and maybe not call it hd collection). It's not much of a collection with just 2 of the games.

I still think we'll eventually see a true HD remake of the first game. (Not a completely different story/experience like Shattered Memories was)
It's just going to take a lot longer to do than SH 2 and 3. The PC ports of SH 2/3 already looked as good as the new HD screens anyway.

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I finally pulled SH:Homecoming off the shelf the other day to play something different...I'm less than impressed with the game. How does this game fall into line (SH4)?

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I hated SH4 (felt it was repetitive and boring), was ok with Origins (It was really a PSP game after all), and disliked Homecoming (it was too modeled after the movie and not the original games and they didn't do justice to the main character. Think about it: a returning soldier's dealing with the aftermath of war should have made for the best otherworld scenes ever, but the game dropped the ball with the story).
Shattered Memories is not considered part of the canon time line.
Downpour will continue the original time line and will finally develop more of the background of the town itself.

I liked 4. It was a change of pace from the first three, and while it wasn't always successful I have to applaud them for trying something different with it. There's certainly no reason to keep it off this collection.

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
If by change of pace you mean constant backtracking the same areas and those damn 'ghosts' .... yep.
Two very good reasons they won't bother to put SH4 in the collection.
1.) They are trying to get people interested in Silent Hill again, both Downpour and the new movie. Neither Homecoming or Shattered Memories were the financial success Konami wanted. Hence a another studio getting a crack. They're going to go with the games that got the most praise and stuck to the series roots. Obviously SH1 is in no shape for a HD release so that just leaves the first two sequels, that already looked really good, and 99% of the horror gamers loved. SH1 can be picked up via PSN anyway.
2.) Demand. Even used SH 2/3 copies are near impossible to find in many areas and are generally in demand while SH4 isnt really that hard to get a hold of. I purchased a new copy of SH4 for $5 in a bargain bin a year or so ago. For the price you would probably pay for a used SH2/3 you can probably buy a brand new game instead.
Now back to topic: I do wish they would include the original voices but what I really wanted is the deleted scenes returned into SH2. Most of them are shown in the game's trailer.

WTF they changed the voices? Bleh. I remember played the opening trailer for SH2 thousands of times in my store. Loved the music and the shitty acting.
And they remade SH1 for the Wii?

Re: SILENT HILL: HD Collection
I thought The Room was actually kind of decent except for that stupid haunting stuff in the room between levels it wasn't too bad.
