Good episode, bad news. I figured sooner or later they'd have to tell Zoe.

Yeah, it was a great episode.

And this is what I like about Eureka, they don't keep "secrets" for a long time. In this case what happened with Allyson.

This show has got better and better overtime, its really a shame that syfy is giving it the axe. Hopefully it gets a fair ending.

This episode was perfect.

I have been watching since the first episode ... it has always been a very good show. Never takes itself too seriously, but still manages to get the viewer invested in the characters.

From reading the Twitter timeline of one of the creators, it seems that Syfy got new owners, and they tried to get a better gross margin from the show. So they wanted to make some cuts. The creators/producers just weren't able to meet those demands, so they agreed to end the show.

If that's the case, that was the best decision.

My thoughts exactly. I am kind of disgusted that, after announcing that an all-too-brief sixth season would be coming, the new owners pull such an about face, and demand cost cuts.

This episode was great. My only complaints were that I though Jo reached the "inoculation" conclusion a bit too easily, and that I was hoping that the Beverly/Allison plot might have gone on for a few episodes.

Now I guess they're getting 1 additional episode to help wrap things up.

Not as good as 6, but at least it's something.

Though given this past week, you may want to just wait and see if SyFy changes their mind yet again...

Re: Eureka -- "Omega Girls" -- 8/08/11

I read about the 1 episode extension and apparently episode 13 for next season ends on a cliffhanger and they needed that extra hour to resolve things.

Sad to see the show coming to an end. But, hell there is still 5 more episodes left for 4.5 and 14 episodes for season 5, so there is alot of Eureka left going into 2012.

I agree though Beverly's "secret" was quite extended the first time around.

The only stupid problem I had was why was Beverly/Allison running to the chopper with the drive when time was ticking on being able to break their mental link? Shouldn't Beverly have given the box to one of the other two guys, severed the link and let them get to the chopper and escape?

So if it ends after 6 seasons they miss out on the syndication royalties that they would have gotten if it had gone 7 seasons, right? I really like Eureka, maybe another channel will pick it up. How are it's numbers?

It's ending after season 5. This is currently the 2nd half of season 4.

Shows go into syndication after 3 seasons now (look at The Mentalist on TNT)

It averages about 2M viewers a week and about 890K in the 18-34 demo. While those numbers aren't terrible for cable, they aren't great either, especially for a 5 year old show that isn't cheap to make. Eureka moving to another channel is very unlikely. Most networks don't like to touch stuff that they didn't develop in house.

Here are some Tweets from one of Eureka's producers:

She confirmed that SyFy wanted a 6th season, but the producers couldn't make the show with the budget cuts requested to make the show profitable.
