EOnline announced that the first two hosts of the 37th season will be Alec Baldwin (this'll be #16, one ahead of Steve Martin) and then Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Mike & Molly).

According to the link above, EVERYONE is returning for the 37th Season.

Lorne Michaels did say that he would be auditioning at the end of August, so we might see a new face or two.

Now that Kristen Wiig's movie career is taking off, I wonder if she's only got 1 more year in her.

(Melissa McCarthy in this case. Okay, I never watched Gilmore Girls or her other regular shows, so I guess that's why I don't know her.)

Nick Offerman and Aziz Ansari should host shows this season and they are cheap since they are part of the NBC family.

Hopefully Justin Timberlake hosts every episode after those 2, since he did the only good episode last year.

Would they really get paid less to host because they are on a show on NBC? I don't know, but I'm guessing that every host gets the same fee. And I'm sure no one's doing it to get rich. Most people host to promote something else they are in or to be able to have said that they hosted SNL.

As I've said before, almost anyone on Community would be a good host. I could see Whitney Cummings, Will Arnet, Chistina Applegate or Hank Azaria hosting since they all have new sitcoms on NBC this season. Zachery Levi from Chuck would be a good choice too since Chuck is ending this season. There seems to be a Facebook petition to get him as host.

I like Baldwin but I'm finding it is starting to coming off as LAZY for SNL to have the same people host again and again...why not break the mold a bit and get someone who hasn't hosted before to kick off the season. Uninspired.

They might want to hurry on Arnett before the new show gets canceled. Since Arrested Development ended, the poor guy can't seem to get a series that lasts more than half a season.

And I guess that goes for Applegate too, since she's on the same show.

I wouldn't call it uninspired, I'd call it bringing in a ringer. It's the first show of the season, they want to put their best foot forward with a host who has proven he's game and capable of being very funny on the show. (Plus, he's on an NBC show that will be premiering soon.)

They have 20-some shows in a season, most of whom will feature hosts who haven't hosted the show before. If I was running SNL, I'd definitely want to kick the season off with a show that is as close to being guaranteed funny as possible.

With the success and Emmy love 'Louie' on FX is getting, I hope we see him host this season. I'd like to think he'd be able to bring something special to the show.

Though he's not the lead, season two of the Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret airs in January. But it's a British production that airs on IFC, so it doesn't really count.

It's also hilarious. If you (or anyone) haven't checked it out, I highly recommend it. Extremely cringeworthy comedy. Arnett and David Cross make a great team. (I just rewatched the Gobias episode of AD yesterday.)
