The Last Stand (Kim-Ji-Woon) Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie return
from the Wrap
I actually got more excited over the fact that Kim Ji Woon of I Saw the Devil and the Good The Bad The Weird fame is directing over Arnie making a comeback
Arnold is back.
The disgraced ex-governor and ex-movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to go back to acting in an action picture in which he’ll play one of his favorite roles – an enforcer making a comeback.
According to the L.A. Times, Schwarzenegger has struck a deal to star in “Last Stand,” playing an aging sheriff seeking to protect his border town from a drug kingpin. The character must decide whether to risk his own life to protect his town from the drug cartel.
The movie would be the first project for Schwarzenegger since he left the governor’s mansion in January, and since he took a hiatus from work after admitting that he had fathered a child with the family’s housekeeper, Mildred Baena.
Maria Shriver, his wife of three decades, left him after learning of the infidelity, and has filed for divorce.
Under national criticism and scrutiny, Schwarzenegger announced he was going to suspend all plans for acting projects. He had been planning to star in a film called “Cry Macho," playing a former horse breeder who's won the Kentucky Derby, but whose life has fallen apart. He ends up with one last chance to make money: Kidnap the boss's son from Mexico, where the boy lives with the man's ex-wife.
The Times said that “Last Stand” would be directed by Kim-ji-Woon, a South Korean director who has made foreign-language films such as revenge-thriller "I Saw the Devil," but would be making his English-language debut with Schwarzenegger.
It said the film would shoot later this year.

I really have a hard time believing Arnold is going to be able to carry a movie in his mid sixties, being that he's a dreadful actor, coupled with the fact that this relic has been out of the game for so long.
The Kim Ji Woon angle is interesting though.

Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a Millennium Films production (they've done alot of the Stallone, jason staitham R rated movies, then distributed by Lions Gate

Kim Ji Woon = SOLD!
The man hasn't done anything less than great and most of it is outstanding.
Judging by his interviews he'll walk away before he sells out.

Arnold has never been opposed to "enhanced supplementation". He still has super human genetics and he is smart. If he is physically in shape and combines it with good direction and writing..I think the fans will eat it up.

as long as he is able to fire a weapon and do half way decent fight scenes, fans won't care (Steven Seagal still does it and he's past 60)

Sounds great, much better than the other possibilities that fell through. Arnold needs some help from directors to make him look good (shooting angles, editing, etc) especially nowadays. His last movies were too conventional and lacking in style. Hopefully he's getting back into shape as we speak...

This sounds like it could be all kinds of awesome. I can already picture the trailer in my head:
Opening shot: A gang of thugs are consorting inside a rundown bar. Suddenly the door swings open. The thugs turn and stare wide-eyed at the unseen intruder. One of the thugs takes a step forward and growls: "I thought you wuz retired."
Camera moves in on the intruder's face. It's Arnie! He grins: "I'm back." Then he proceeds to take a out a machine gun and shoots everyone dead.

That pic does a wonderful job of conveying to me that Knoxville will be the film's annoying comic relief.

Good. I hope it's old school action. Collateral Damage was a nice throwback, but just didn't work. I like Stallone's comeback, and think that the new Rocky is his best new movie (not Rambo or Expendables).
Anxiously awaiting a trailer. Is it going to be Korean actioner wacky, or good ole' American action? I dunno.

Great poster but the Camaro seems out of place. It's too "new" for Schwarzenegger and the overall vibe of the poster.
