Synopsis:

Spoiler:
FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few remaining survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force, whose nature and purpose remains a mystery.

At the center of FALLING SKIES is Tom Mason (Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. His wife was killed shortly after the initial attack, and one of his three sons has been taken captive by the aliens for some unknown purpose. Tom must now put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as second in command of the 2nd Massachusetts, a regiment of resistance fighters protecting a large group of civilian survivors. They are constantly trying to gain intelligence about the aliens in order to one day outsmart and overtake them and hopefully rebuild their lives.

Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) also stars as Anne Glass, a pediatrician who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic upheaval in their lives. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT’s Into the West) plays Weaver, a fierce military leader of the resistance and Tom’s commanding officer.

FALLING SKIES also stars Drew Roy (Secretariat) as Hal, Tom’s oldest son and a growing fighter in the resistance movement; Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom’s youngest son; Connor Jessup (The Saddle Club) as Ben, Tom’s son who was captured by aliens; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps Anne in the group’s makeshift medical clinic. Mpho Koaho (Rookie Blue) and Peter Shinkoda (The L Word) play Anthony and Dai, two resistance fighters in the 2nd Mass.; Colin Cunningham (Living in Your Car) is John Pope, the head of a gang of marauders; and Sarah Sanguin Carter (Shark) is Margaret, a wary survivor from Pope’s gang.

Really looking forward to this. But, it's premiering on the same night as the Game of Thrones finale, The Killing finale, so it's going to be a really busy night.

It's gotten great reviews so far. But, I have a feeling it's going to get nit picked to hell by all you science fiction snobs here.

There was a rumor that this already got renewed for a 2nd season. Dreamworks and TNT already hired a new showrunner for the 2nd season, but they are just waiting to see the ratings for the 1st couple of episodes before making it official.

I read on wiki it's a cross between Jericho and V. Hopefully, it doesn't take the predominant suckiness of those shows. It's not on network TV, so that can't hurt (if it's good).

Dude I follow on Twitter saw it and I asked if he liked it. Said it was cheesy but he heard it was supposed to get better.

Did you read my OP? They already hired a new showrunner for a "season 2" TNT and Dreamworks are pretty much set on ordering a 2nd season. They are just waiting to see some numbers for the 1st couple of episodes. I can't see this bombing. TNT has been promoting it like crazy and it's been promoted in movie theatres as well. I'm going to guess that this gets between 5-7M viewers tonight minimum.

Really looking forward to this. However, I may not get around to watching it until tomorrow due to GoT and The Killing finales.

Ummm you said it was a rumor. Until they said it's official, shit can still happen no matter how good a series looks. It would be a nice change of pace if they give a series time to find it's audience.

I enjoyed it other than the gang of outlaws crap. Hate how all these post-apocalyptic shows always have that. Hopefully that was it. Internal conflict is obviously necessary, but I just hope it's humans vs. aliens from now on.

Tried watching it, but it was too boring for me. Not a fan of Jericho or V though.

Maybe its just me, but I was also very disappointed- will give it another episode or two, though....

I found it very similar to the Walking Dead, just with aliens instead of zombies. But to me, the first episode of Walking Dead just blew Falling Skies away....

I thought of The Walking Dead, too. That show hooked me right from the start. This was just OK. Not bad, but nothing memorable.

(I did like the outlaw gang chick turning tables and killing those two dudes).

Does no one know how to hotwire a car? Despite some silly cliche moments, I'll keep watching tho.
