I'm just curious what subs other people are using. I'm getting my Acoustic Research S300 sub this week. It's a 12" slot loaded sub with a 300 watt Bob Carver/Sunfire amp. Response rate is down to 22 Hz! I am really looking forward to it. What do you guys use and are you satisfied by your sub?

I have a HSU 1220 w/ 500w amp in my HT setup and a velodyine 1200 in my 2 channel system. The Velodyine is ok, but the HSU is really nice--goes low, never barks, and sounds great.

I use a Mirage BPS-150i and recently added a an older REL Strata to my HT system. Two subs really give you the advantage of getting smoooooth bass (max SPL is not my goal).

I think by far the hardest part about setting up HTs is sub placement.

Anyone with practical tips on getting flat bass response? I don't do corner placements, and I have a SPL and AVIA.

Thanks.

Here's mine. Here's a link to how I made it.

I'm in the process of making 2 more subs with the Tempest driver from Adire Audio.

If you have the tools and desire, they are fun to make, and can be designed to really beat most commercial subs for a fraction of the price.

It goes down to 20Hz with ease.

the best sub for the least money is the atlantic technology 162pbm. it was discontinued about a year ago. i picked it up at sound city for $149. it lists for $300. it won a home theater magazine face-off about two years ago. it really goes down to about 32hz, is small, looks good, and was cheap!

Mine's also Paradigm PS-1000 its more than enough to pack punches in a big room and for music also.
And the price is also a bargain compared to other subs for this kind of performance.

Two Mission 700AS subs.

Excellent bang for the buck IMO, especially if purchased in Canada, where they are manufactured.

Oh... I just have the sub that came with the kenwood htb-502... it's alright though sometimes it vibrates with really low bass.

Wow, people seem to be proud of their subs. Mine is on it's way, I have tracking digits for it now. Hopefully by Friday I will be able to post how much I love my new sub.
