Woodrow and Aiden spend all of their free time building Mad Max inspired flame-throwers and weapons of mass destruction in preparation for a global apocalypse in which their imaginary gang "Mother Medusa" can emerge on top. But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of betrayal, love, hate, infidelity, and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.
Being an indie...it had an indie mindset in filmmaking...
The film is also noted for its distinctive look. That is attributed to Joel Hodge's unique shooting style and the home brew, Glodell designed and built a camera, which uses various vintage camera parts, bellows and Russian lenses, around the Silicon Imaging SI-2K Mini Digital Cinema camera.

There's some good individual shots there but as a whole, the film seems too hipster for my tastes. When you clash genres, both portions have to stand on their own merits, otherwise it's a cliche-fest and nothing more; that Hughes comment seems apropos.

I saw it over the weekend, and Glodell was there for a Q&A. It's more of a relationship movie, than anything else. The flame throwing, and Medusa car shooting out fire is a smaller part of it. For a while there I had no clue where the story was going, not that I needed to know. I did like it though, and would recommend it. I'd give it a solid B

just saw this - it really struck a chord with me, strangely. It's altogether silly, immature, and forcibly gritty; though that's completely the film's spirit, and it somehow managed to take itself seriously with a great soundtrack and fantastically stylized shots. I'd say it truly captured the irrationality of a male's sickest, insecure fantasies, and some may easily interpret it as sexist or misogynist, but they're obviously not grasping the picture being painted. I would even go as far as to say it has a less intelligent, more elementary Taxi Driver feel to it, which is far from a bad thing. Basically, I cannot wait to see what else Glodell will do in the near future, as this is sure to snag him some outstanding film opportunities.

I saw this tonight. I thought it sucked hard.
The movie has a lot of energy in the beginning but then about 30 minutes in, its gets all serious and it just progressively gets worse from there. I heard it was made for $17,000 which is really good cause it looked a lot better than it. Overall, I'd say pass.

watched it last night. it drags a bit in the middle but overall i enjoyed the hell out of it. very stylish for such a low budget effort. acting was a little subpar but never majorly distracting. i did find the dialog to be quite realistic which was refreshing. i give it a 4/5.

I got sent this on BD a week ago. I'll try to throw it in soon since it sounds like it's worth seeing.

Do you own any Oscilloscope releases? They all use the same packaging. It's recycled material, but I wouldn't call it shitty. I think they're one of the few companies that does a solid job on presentation in that respect.

Slides into a sleeve, but it's easily accessible and not difficult like the Alien or SW sets. I'll post a pic later if I get a chance.

Re: Bellflower (2011) (Sex, A Girl, Alcohol, Fire, Cars, and a Bromance)
Watched this over the weekend. It was shaky going at first when I realized the film is about hipster douchebags who find love, but there are enough interesting aspects to their lives that I stuck with it. Things definitely get more interesting during the final third, but I felt Glodell did a god enough job getting me invested in these characters (or, at least, his own) that I could emphatize to some degree. The film has a unique look, although I thought it was too gimmicky at times. It looked like someone shot a feature using a vintage movie camera iPhone app, but I can't deny it helped it gain an aesthetic that most indie features can't. It was cooler to learn Glodell actually MADE the camera they shot the film with using vintage parts and Russian lenses. Think I'll hang onto this Blu-ray after all. It's a pretty cool flick.

One thing that really takes me out of movies like this is where the hell do they get all of their money from? Trust fund? Selling drugs? They never showed them going to work etc... anyway even without that it it is one of the worst movies I have seen this year... Suprised they didn't have the scene were the one dude declairs his love for the other one.

^ thanks for posting those droid...not a fan of the packaging especially considering oscilloscope's high pricetag. i'd expect to get something a little more sturdy.

Well, again, it is technically sturdy, it's just that the design has too much air in it. I don't think it's that hard to keep it in nice shape if you buy a copy in nice shape.
