The Tony Awards

They should make Neil Patrick Harris a permanent MC of the show.
I watched the first hours but got sleepy so I set (or so I thought) my VCR to record the last hour. Guess what....it didn't work.

Current shows on Broadway don't really turn me on but I did like the "I Believe" song from [I]Book Of Mormon[I].

Re: The Tony Awards

I watched it today having DVR-ed it. I thought it was fun. I've never watched it before but living in Jersey now I've been to a few Broadway shows.

Though I really don't get why it's broadcast for everyone. People can see movies, tv shows and listen to music anywhere. The Tonys are specifically for Broadway plays in NYC.

Won't most, especially the musicals, have touring companies?

Yeah but they never get any of the name actors that win the Tonys.

It's a tradition just like all the other awards shows, but unlike the other shows, the Tonys are also special for bringing Broadway to people that either can't see the shows or haven't yet. And Broadway still attracts people from out-of-town to this day. I still see people traveling to and back from B'way shows on Metro-North trips even in the bad economy.

I really want to see Book of Mormon in the worst way, it looks hilarious just from the innocence of the poor young missionary character! The dynamic of that number felt so South Park to me!

Good points. I wish I could see Book of Mormon too.

Re: The Tony Awards

I think I heard top ticket prices are over $400. That's enough to keep me from going. Actually, even $40 would cramp my budget.
