I'm rather excited about this game, as I'm a fan of the Need For Speed series. The concept sounds intriguing, kind of like the Cannonball Run but more serious and with less orangutans.

This does look pretty sweet! Just, for the love of God, please no time trials where you lose 2 seconds if you BARELY touch a road border!

The out-of-vehicle stuff is kind of perplexing. The rest of it looks pretty cool, though.

I was perplexed by it when I first saw the demo too. But then once the developer explained that they're basically cut scenes but with an interactive element, and the goal is to get you back into a car as soon as possible, I was okay with it.
They've said overall that the outside the car stuff is less than 10% of the game.

I like the idea of a story that drives you cross-country. Not thrilled about the QTE scenes, although it seems more like a way to get you into a new car and still keep the story moving forward.

Bump probably just for me, since I'm the only person excited for this game. Picking up my copy later today.

I'll be picking it up too but probably not until after I get through the majority of Skyrim. NFS has consistently been my favorite racing game series.

I'm excited to play it, but my backlog is out of control with recent purchases. Plus I'm still tooling around in Hot Pursuit. I might wait for a drop... or until I clear a couple of games from my plate. Or I might just get it if I go to KMart today. (and then the decision would be to pick two from NFS, Saints' Row and Skyrim.) I really need to jump off that coupon train.

Luckily I have three KMart's within 10-15 minutes and one of them always has plenty of everything. Of course, today, now that I've sung their praises, would probably be the day that they fail me. It's also shocking clean and well-staffed. It's like a vortex into another dimension.
I'm hoping for a few more positive reviews to pop up today for NFS. The IGN review was brutal. But on the other hand, if I don't get it at KMart today I can always snag it during the Black Friday sales and swim in my unplayed games during the post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Only a couple of reviews in so far...
IGN gave it a 6.5
Gametrailers gave it an 8.4

Joystiq gave it 3/5.
But NFS games are almost critic proof for me. Undercover got average scores and I loved the hell out of that one.

I picked it up with Skyrim today and used my $50 coupons from last week. $42 out the door for both games. NFS is always a no-brainer buy for me despite having a backlog about 10 deep right now. If it's anything like Undercover or Hot Pursuit, I'll be happy.

Not sure what the critics wanted from this game but so far it's been a great deal of fun. The QuickTime event stuff is perfectly fine.

Exactly, I put 30+ hours in Undercover. Started Run yesterday and i enjoy it. Sure its has the normal races, but with the cross country aspect, It feels like your accomplishing something, rather than random races.

Dammit. Now I have to really make a decision between Saints Row, Skyrim (if I can find it) and Run.

The Run won out in the end. I was geared up for Saints Row but when I saw one last NFS sitting there in the case, I couldn't resist. I do like me some NFS no matter how much I want to deny it. If only I had 48 hours in a day.

I'd recommend that fans of arcade racers try to pick this one up in one of the Black Friday deals. $30-$40 is a good price for the game, and I need someone... anyone... else on my friends list to play this so I have Autolog times to crush.
