Tornado Alley (IMAX feature)
As any fan or anyone who is remotely familiar with Discovery Channel's 'Storm Chasers' series knows, one of the central characters is IMAX director Sean Casey and his attempts in filming the ultimate cinematic feat: filming a tornado as it passes over his camera. Here is the final product folks. In what can be best described as a 42 minute condensed version of Storm Chasers, minus the human 'interaction' drama/conflict aspect, Casey set's up his challenge, several attempts, alongside the obligatory scientific explanations of tornados to the masses. What works is the stunning cinematography, where the sky and cloud formations look massive and imposing on the IMAX screen - however the key essential scene where he's actually filming the oncoming tornado over his TIV vehicle is a major letdown - he states the cyclone took nearly a full minute yet in the film, it seems less than twenty seconds - could you NOT have edited in said one minute of footage - not to be over critical, but the footage from the other (non-IMAX, scientist) team's driving through a tornado is far more visceral, frightening and jaw dropping [on the small screen (TV) no less] Sean Casey should be commended for what he was able to capture on film, but here it seems the editor is at fault here. The film is dedicated to fellow meteorologist and deceased friend Matt Hughes

We were thinking about seeing this on Friday but I couldn't find many reviews. Is it worth it for $18 for two tickets? And is the runtime really only 42 mins?

42 minutes isn't abnormally short for IMAX features like this.
