I am having a helluva time with my one-year-old JVC 710 DVD player where currently, it plays any disk for one hour, start skipping terribly, and then downright pauses. I have to pull the power since the buttons stop working and then all other tries will fair. I have to wait another few hours to try again.
I have heard that others have had issues with other players. Is this badboy overheating? Is it dead? What's the score here? What's next?

sefster - It looks like you are yet another victim of the ugly JVC monster. I, like many before and after me have suffered with this problem. It sounds like the warrenty has just ended and you will be forced to pay for a optical replacement which starts at 150. I use mine to play CD's now and it doesn't work very long that way either. Get an estimate if you like, but in my mind as many before, you will be better off buying a new one as the repair doesn't always seem to work either. I bought a Sony 560 and it sounds and looks better. So it's not a total loss.
