I just finished the newest book so I'm definitely ready for the show to come back.

I just finished the latest book as well... what did you think of it?

Looking forward to the bluray release of S3 this week, and Season 4 to begin the end of the month!

Oh yea, I came across this article yesterday that mentions that one of the segments in an upcoming episode was filmed in 3d...

It was good. I read the first ten books a few months ago. I wouldn't call any of them great. I enjoyed them all well enough though. I read the entire Ender series before I read these so they were really light reading compared to those.

book spoiler
Spoiler:
It seemed like something was missing from this book. The only thing I can think of is that there was no Jason. I believe most of the other characters made an appearance.

I enjoyed season 1 but season 2 bored me to tears so I stopped. Did season 3 get better?

Yes. Season 2 has been the weak link so far.

As you said, something definitely felt missing in this book. I've enjoyed the entire series so far, but this book and the previous one I felt were very boring, and this one felt like a chore to finish. I didn't like how the book just ended too.

I hope that Ball works on tying up loose ends a bit quicker than usual; I'm a bit tired of the mad dash to resolution in the final episode, quickly accompanied by the season-ending cliffhanger.

Yup, agreed. A classic case of a sophomore slump. Season 3 is definitely worth watching.

Just like the third book in the series, the third season of this series blows the socks of everything that came before - it's just a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.

I just hope that season 4 can live up to what they have created at this point, especially since that is my favorite book in the series

In truth, I would sort of blame the source material. Seems like the novels resolve a lot of major plot conflicts at the very last minute too. So you may not see your wish come true if the writers are trying to retain that aspect of the Sookie Stackhouse Chronicles.

I started rewatching S3 over the weekend on HBOGO. Man, there was a lot of cool stuff that I forgot about. They just LUMPED in multiple booksworth of details/developments into one season compared to S2. Glad I'm revisiting it before S4!

I would have no problem with that. She's just so grating.
