Two questions: What is your favorite Gary Oldman movie, and...
...how many of you agree than he is unquestionably the greatest living actor alive today?
My personal favorite is....well, it's impossible to pick one! But Dracula and True Romance instantly come to mind. His performance in IB was also superb!
He is without a doubt unparalleled in his class, and the only ones I would argue come are Deniro and Pacino, *maybe* Lewis.

I wouldn't say he's unquestionably the greatest actor alive today. I mean, Christopher Plummer and Peter O'Toole are still knocking around.
I think Oldman has a tendency to run wild and needs a director to channel his energies. His performance as Gordon in the Batman films is a perfect example of a director focusing him. Leon is the perfect example of what happens if you let him do just anything.

Yeah he was literally allowed to do anything in 'Leon'.
Oldman is a real talent, there is no doubt he can deliver on film, but I wouldn't put him in the top 10 of actors working today.

Definitely not the greatest living actor, but a damn fine one.
Despite LEON being one of my all time favorite films, I think his best work was in ROMEO IS BLEEDING

I like Oldman. My favorite performance from him is as LHO in JFK. Not a lot of screen time, but he is perfect.
He's been great in many films... I also really liked him The Contender (the movie, not so much).
Pacino and DeNiro are shells of their former selves.

Probably have to add another vote to the Romeo Is Bleeding column.

He is a fine actor, but his Hollywood career has been a bit of a letdown. Most of his best work was done in the UK. These are my favorites:
Meantime
Sid and Nancy
Prick Up Your Ears
The Firm
State of Grace (UK/US co-production)
Leon (France)
Romeo is Bleeding (UK/US co-production)

It's a horrible movie, but I loved him as Doctor Smith in Lost In Space. Really over the top. And though I prefer the original Gordon, I thought he was pretty good in Dark Knight. The only good thing about the movie, to tell you the truth.

I was hoping the second question was "Do you think Gary Coleman's agent ever misheard a director saying they were looking for a Gary Oldman type and got really excited and sent Coleman to audition?"
Because the thought of Gary Coleman auditioning for The Professional makes me giggle.

Favorite movie with him in it is JFK, but my favorite performance of his is Beethoven in Immortal Beloved.
