Had some laughs in this episode but they are wasting Emmanuelle Chriqui
Not sure if I'll tune in for season 2.

^ Everything about this season was a waste. It had so much potential but it was just.....there.

I'm torn on this show. I liked it, but can't disagree with the opinion that it's "just there". It's well-produced and acted, but it's not a show I necessarily look forward to seeing. It shows up on my DVR, I get around to it at some point in the week, and don't think of it much otherwise. I'll watch next season, but I don't see myself caring too much when it ends.
I don't know. It seems childish to put this series down because it doesn't contain over-the-top sex and violence like other recent period pieces (GoT, Spartacus, Camelot). Like many of Neil Jordan's movies, this series has a deliberate pace to it. There's an inherent issue with stories based on history - lack of surprise at what will happen to many major characters - but there certainly many examples of series that overcome this. Maybe too many of the major characters are unlikeable? The Pope, his sons, and all the Cardinals are a nasty lot, as are the supporting cast of nobles. Only Lucretzia is likable, which is ironic since she has the worst historical reputation. I do enjoy Jeremy Irons' turn as Pope Alexander - this kind of thing is right in his wheelhouse.
