The Pink Floyd catalog is getting a massive overhaul and reissue campaign from long-time label EMI. The initiative will be launched on September 26, encompassing CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, SACD, an array of digital formats, viral marketing, iPhone Apps and a new single-disc "Best Of" collection. The releases, under the banner Why Pink Floyd...?, are designed to appeal to a wide cross section of fans - there will be music to excite first time listeners, and super-deluxe box sets to cater to dedicated fans. The multi-disc box sets will contain alternate takes, unreleased tracks, restored live concert screen films and a live recording of the legendary Dark Side Of The Moon performance at Wembley in 1974.
In addition to remastered CDs that will be called "Discovery," there will be "Immersion" CD / DVD / Blu-ray / memorabilia box sets and a series of "Experience" Editions that will couple one classic album with a second disc of related content from that album, offering a deeper listening experience.
"This is a unique collaboration between EMI and one of the most creative and influential bands in history," said Roger Faxon, CEO of EMI Group. "We have worked together for more than a year on this program, which incorporates all the elements that have made Pink Floyd one of the most inspiring forces in modern music. Why Pink Floyd? Because their music is without equal and these exciting new releases will allow music fans to rediscover their incredible legacy and demonstrate that an appreciation for artistic quality never goes out of fashion."
Storm Thorgerson, the band's longtime Art Director, has overseen the new visual design, including new booklets for all the CDs, artwork for the box sets and menus for the DVD content. Photographer Jill Furmanovsky has edited books of original unseen photographs, and Pink Floyd collaborators James Guthrie (in the US) and Andy Jackson (in the UK) have been in charge of digital remastering. Furthermore, Pink Floyd film archivist Lana Topham has supervised the restoration of many historic films from Pink Floyd's classic era, included in the Immersion box sets for The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.
The first releases to be available on September 26 will be expanded deluxe and special edition versions of The Dark Side Of The Moon, as well as a collectors' vinyl LP and various digital formats. Additionally, 14 studio albums will be digitally remastered and available separately or as a box set, also on September 26. Phase Two of the reissue campaign in due on November 7.

I'll get Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here and maybe Meddle. Not a big enough fan of them to buy the rest.

I've already pre-ordered through Amazon the Immersion sets, except The Wall since it was not ready for pre-order. I am hoping the digital remaster will be great.

Only thing extra that I want released is the full version of the Like A Rolling Stone cover that Gilmour did:

well if they could release more Syd Barrett rarities I'd appreciate that. A lot of it is already on bootlegs but the unreleased Matilda Mother was nice to hear on that Piper At the Gates of Dawn reissue.

Looking at the link, it appears only The Wall, Wish You Were Here, and DSOTM are getting the deluxe treatment. Didn't a 3-disc version of Piper At The Gates of Dawn come out recently anyway?
