The show is wonderful but you might not want to start here. The music has been replaced on the DVDs, so only a few episodes feature EitS. You're better off finding rips on the internet with the original music intact.

thanks for the heads up! picked up seasons 3 and 4 - haven't seen anything past season 2 and i'd been meaning to pick them up and get back into the show

One of the safest blind buys anyone could make. If you're on the fence, just buy them, if only to see Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton as Coach and Tami Taylor, the most believable couple on TV. Yeah, it's a sports drama, and yeah, it's a soap opera, but you'll root for each and every character, not just the teams.

I'd argue it's a family drama with sports as the backdrop, but yeah, safest blind buy anyone could make. Just don't judge it on the totally clichéd pilot.

I'd jump in but I'd much prefer a BD set.

IIRC, since FNL was always a bubble show, it was originally intended to keep the sets cheap to draw in more viewers.
