Osama Bin Laden Movie?
Do you guys think there'll be a movie about Osama Bin Ladens life? I was thinking they could make it about his whole family and the history with the us even before 9/11 and the lead up up to his death. Do you think a movie like that would be a hit?

Um...
Untitled bin Laden movie to start this summer
Art often imitates life, but what do you do when life happens before the art even gets made?
Such is the reported question for Oscar-winning team Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, who were hard at work on a movie about the U.S. team tracking down Osama bin Laden when the news broke that he’d been taken out by U.S. forces.
Bigelow, who also won an Oscar for directing the “The Hurt Locker,” is on board to helm this feature as well, while “Locker” screenwriter (and investigative journalist) Boal has been busy penning the story for the film.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two were even looking at actors for the project, including Joel Edgerton ("Star Wars Episode II"; "Smokin' Aces").
But now that we know how the story ends, it’s unclear what will become of the project. THR lists a range of possibilities, including a tweaked storyline since it's been reported that the film was to depict a failed black ops mission to kill bin Laden.
There’s also the chance that the acclaimed team will pass on the movie altogether, THR says, since Hollywood will likely attempt to push out similar projects to get some play on the international interest.
Variety, however, suggests a more optimistic outcome, describing bin Laden's death as a "lucky break." The industry trade publication reports that Boal has been "following the mission for quite some time," and that the timing of recent events "could hardly be better."

Yep. Meh, who gives a shit about his life. A movie that details the events leading up to how Operarion Geronimo was set up and executed - now THAT would be one hell of a movie. Directed by Ridley Scott.

Re: Osama Bin Laden Movie?
PLEASE don't let that hack Bigelow anywhere near a movie about the REAL Geronimo mission. I'd love to see a real director tackle that story. Actually I just want to know what really happened. I'm sure the truth is way more interesting than some Hollywood tripe anyway.

His life was a joke. He inherited $300 million from daddy and then killed a massive amount of people and ended up getting shot and dumped in the ocean. Fuck him.

Re: Osama Bin Laden Movie?
We already got some movies about 9/11 which was his crowning achievement. He's done absolutely nothing for the last decade. Honestly I've pretty much forgotten about him already. It's like your home team winning the super bowl. You're so happy that day and maybe the next day but eventually you just go back to living your life. I listened to CNN on the way to work yesterday and watched CNN when I got home. Today I went back to listening to Howard Stern and watched Star Trek 5 when I got home. He was a worthless pile of shit that doesn't deserve to even be thought about anymore. He failed. End of story.

I don't want to see a movie about his life no matter how amazing it is. It would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
But I would absolutely welcome a Operation Geronimo movie, it's already like Hollywood wrote it. It starts with following the leads, finding the courier, investigating the compound. Then it ends with a 40 minute action sequence where helicopters crash, terrorist get killed and the worlds most wanted man gets killed. Ends with the dumping of the body into the ocean.
If it's a hit they can make a sequel where Bin Laden was just playing dead and escapes the white sheet while in the water. We do it all over in a different location.

I'm already fine enough with Planet Terror

Re: Osama Bin Laden Movie?
Only if Sacha Baron Cohen--in his Ali G persona--plays the title role.

I heard Hollywood is considering Jim Caviezel for the role.

It doesn't matter what I think, a movie is inevitable, but I won't see it. I could give a rats ass less about the life and times of Osama Bin Laden. The only thing I care about is that he's dead. -kd5-

Re: Osama Bin Laden Movie?
But yeah, I'd see a movie about the life of Osama, if The Rock or Larry David were playing Osama.

I'd like to see Oliver Stone go back to his roots and make a movie about his 'secret' relationships.
