NFL Draft is tonight, so I will watch this DVR'd tomorrow as usual.

btw, good riddance to this tired character. Let's hope the replacement re-energizes the show.

On the poll I'm somewhere between the first and second option. And I think why Carell is committing career suicide by leaving, I was actually getting exhausted by the character as well. The rest of the characters in the office are all interesting/entertaining enough to have more stories written around them!

If that promo video is any indication, I'm going to be a mess by the end of the episode.

I'm also in the camp that is not sad to see him go. Mostly because it means that he is taking Holly with him.

Re: The Office -- Special 52 minute Episode -- "Goodbye Michael" -- 4/28/11

Thank you Michael Scott for some of the funniest episodes on TV. I'm talking about the earlier seasons, but I did love the beginning seasons of this show. Now they have been replaced by some funnier comedies on TV but it was a good run for him.

I try to watch this in reruns but it is not as rewatchable to me as
Seinfeld. I literally have watched that show in reruns hundreds of times and it never gets old. THat's quite a quality!

There will always be another NFL Draft, but Michael Scott only leaves The Office once.

Ok. I'll tell all the guys coming over to my house tonight that we are going to watch the Office instead of the NFL Draft. That'll go over well.

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!

The poll needs another option: "Will try to continue watching but am doubtful the show can continue without Michael Scott; am prepared to bail out after a few episodes next year."

Given NBC's current state, wouldn't be surprised to see the show go 5 more years even if it totally sucks.

Really? I mean why you'd prioritize one thing over another is your business but a party for that?

because the majority of people here are nerds who wouldn't know a football if they sat on it sideways.

When the draft was on the weekend (like it should be), a bunch of us guys would get together and sit and watch for hours... I hate the move to Thursday nights.

Yeah you're definitely far from the only person to have a draft party. There's a reason the NFL moved the draft from Saturday to prime time Thursday.

No option to say I will keep watching without saying that it's one of my favorite sitcoms?

Basically what I'm thinking.

The show hasn't been one of my favorites for a few seasons now, but I've mostly stuck with it for the rare excellent episode, like I'm expecting this one to be.

Yep, that would be my choice. I think the show is a pale imitation of what it was in the early seasons, but it's still watchable, especially given how few even decent sitcoms there are these days. Even though Michael had a habit of being an annoying character, I still think the show will be diminished even more by the loss of his character. I would be interested to see if the creative people on the show can surprise and get it back to what it used to be.

That said, it is increasingly the weak link in NBC's Thursday night comedy block, having been far surpassed IMO by Community, 30 Rock, and Parks and Rec. Frankly, I wouldn't be at all disappointed if NBC pulled the plug on it next season. Like someone else mentioned, I could easily see them letting it run even if it does continue to get worse, until it really is an embarrassment to a once fine legacy.
