I have not ordered from these guys, but several DVDTalkers have mentioned a good experience in the past. (Those meticulous about packaging may want to think twice....listed as a cutout.) DD and Amazon still want in excess of $140 for the box.

Screw it, I bit. 55.93 after shipping. I will put it in a binder if it is does not come in packaging. Will let people know when it arrives, it says 7-10 days but Maryland is pretty close.

I am still kicking myself for not buying it at 79.99 at Amazon a year ago. For whatever reason the price for this is always way higher than Larry Sanders (which I own) but only has a $10 higher MSRP.

I figure it's just a cutout boxset with cut in UPC code. I took a chance as I actually like this show better than Larry Sanders plus that's an awesome price plus they had Malcolm & Eddie and Simon & Simon that I had been eyeing for awhile. Search season or series to find other decent SHOUT discs.

I emailed Daedalus about what the "cutout DVD" thing meant. This was their reply:

Hello...

Thank you for your interest in Daedalus. A cutout DVD is a DVD that has been marked down in price. Sometimes, there will be a small slash on the back of the DVD case, or a small hole punched out of the back of the case. This is done by the company who originally sold the DVD, as a sign that the DVD in question can no longer be sold at full price. The DVD inside is always brand new and unaffected by this process.

Have you guys really never seen this with records/CDs? They "cut out" a piece of the cover so you know the retailers shouldn't be charging full price. I guess with the disappearance of buying music in B&Ms this technique is vanishing to a degree as well....

Sure, I have hundreds of cutout CDs, but it's much more rare with DVDs, so it wasn't clear what the extent of the cutout would be. The question is whether it's just a mark/cut through the UPC/cover art, or whether there's more extensive damage to the packaging that would look bad on the shelf.

Received my set today, just a tiny slash through the UPC. Once the plastic wrap is off, it is hardly noticeable. Excellent deal, thanks OP!

I've only ordered from them once back when they had that great deal on La Dolce Vita, but their site or whatever got hacked and my CC was info. was stolen and used. But I would hope they have taken measures to prevent that happening again.
