Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy -- "Episode 2" -- 4/19/11

Some quick thoughts:

The episode is really short...It runs about 7 minutes without the end credits.

It was kind of cool to see Jeri Ryan (Sonya) in action although her fight scenes/shootouts were pretty tame.

This was also a continuation of Jax and Kano's fight from episode 1. I enjoyed the fight scene especially since I know that Michael Jai White is a trained martial artist and the fight is well chereographed.

At least the episode explained the backstory on how Kano got his Cyber eye and Jax will get his robotic arm. And wow when Jax punched Kano's eye out!!

Alot of people on Youtube bitching that these episodes are way too short. 1st of all, we're getting these for free, so those assholes need to STFU and it's a web series to help promote the video game. Plus, if the episodes stay in the 9-10 minute range, your talking about almost 90 minutes of content over 9 weeks.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy -- "Episode 2" -- 4/19/11

I love how this episode had to carry a TV-MA label. I guess people had issues with the two F-bombs in last weeks "unrated" episode.

Overall, I enjoyed it more than last week's episode and it was great to see Sonya in action. It wasn't a lot but hopefully enough to silence Jeri Ryan's detractors. She's the right age for Sonya, as far as I'm concerned. I'm still not wowed by the show and I still feel that the fights have too much of a "tentative" quality about them. The slo-mo also didn't help. But I loved the eye getting punched out.

Good episode - I could have done without the recap, which seemed as long as the episode itself.

However, the eye popping punch was worth it

I hope that the rest of the episodes will be a faster pace,,, but I'm wondering if they want to focus on the fighting - if so we will have a lot more slo-mo shots in the future.

The recap and the end credits was almost 4 mins of the 9 minutes from this episode.

I know for legal reasons they need to put the end credits, but I really don't think they need a recap.

I really hope they release these on blu at some point. It would be nice if you could view them all seperate or as one long film.

It's shot in HD and Warner Premiere is the production company, so I have no doubt they will put this out on BD.

Last week's episode was tagged TV-PG in the description.

As far as this episode goes, it almost felt like the first two episodes were originally conceived as one piece, since the cut from last week was a bit awkward and the cliffhanger in this one felt more proper.

Really? I didn't notice any rating in the description. That makes it even funnier.

I wonder if they were all meant to be viewd as one long form movie and they're just gonna be cut in online viewing. Perhaps an eventual BD release might simply show them as one feature length movie.

I watched "Ip Man 2" over the weekend, and Darren Shahlavi (Kano) is the antagonist in that movie. He is also a trained martial artist.

I hope they get to the cool characters soon. The whole Sonya/Jax/Kano thing has always been the most uninteresting part of the MK mythos to me.

Way too short of an episode this week. Still liked it though...

I really do not like when they do a recap. In some case it takes 5 mins (some less) to get you up to speed. Not bad if you missed a ep. But when they come after each other.
