Good episode this week (although way too brief)
Loved the test that Confessor played with the man to see if he truly deserved to live. The dialogue between Confessor and Priest continues to be solid. To me, Confessor doesn't seem to be an evil man. The fact that Confessor's target was willing to kill himself to save his family's life showed that even though he is a hit man, he's compassionate. I thought it was funny that Priest thought he was being hypocritical to his beliefs. Plus, he said the person who hired him was doing it for personal reasons.
BTW, Brad Mirman said on his blog that there will be a DVD release for sure, but he's not sure about a Blu-Ray release. As I said in the premiere thread, if you have Hulu Plus, you can watch this in HD on your Hulu Plus ready BD player. The Chapters look great in HD.

Too bad there was only one chapter this week, but man it was pretty great.
Like you said, the reason this show works is some great dialogue and expert delivery by Kiefer Sutherland and John Hurt.
I'm glad the Confessor let the guy live because not only does it allow us to feel better about sympathizing with the character, but it adds a level of complexity in that he's willing to make exceptions every now and again. His test was perfectly rational, eerily so, and while it didn't surprise me that the gun wasn't loaded, it was still a great scene. The moment was very tense, due in large part to the score, and the believability of the father.
The Priest was absolutely right though, in that letting the father live was a contradiction to the rules the Confessor has established, but it's interesting to see the Confessor rationalize the differences; that he would have a choice in one situation, but no choice in another.
Looking forward to next week! I definitely hope this gets a Blu-ray release, although I'd be fine picking up the DVD.

Bonus scene to Chapter 6

Explains a little bit of the background of the man that Confessor was hired to kill.

Sort of a weak scene, and the score was a little over-done, but it's nice to know the Man wasn't involved in shady dealings, but was standing up and doing what he felt was right.
But I think we already knew that from the scene in Chapter 6 though, which ultimately makes the bonus scene superfluous. We knew it because instead of trying to kill the Confessor, the Man was willing to take his own life to protect his wife and son. That right there said more about his integrity and bravery than the bonus scene.
But like I said, it's still nice to have confirmation, and thanks for posting it.

I liked this chapter. And thanks for including the bonus episode in this thread. I usually just watch these on hulu, so I would have completely missed it.
