Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take her home.
I haven't seen the movie Lincoln Lawyer yet, but I have read all of Connelly's books, so I am looking forward to this one.

Good book. I definitely recommend it.

This is the first solo Mickey Haller book since Lincoln Lawyer, correct? I think the others have him teamed with Harry Bosch.

I'll have to check this out at some point. I recently read The Lincoln Lawyer and was pleasantly surprised by it and meant to read more of the Mickey Haller books.

Finished it over the weekend, and enjoyed it for the most part. Some thoughts:
It still falls into the regular Connelly trap, which is a great read for almost all of the book, but it ends with a weak ending. And while the ending wasn't really telegraphed, it was formulaic. I'd still recommend it though.

Not a spoiler, but just to keep the theme going...
While the ending wasn't my favorite part of the book, I didn't think it was weak. I thought it was going in a different direction, so it took me by surprise.

What direction did you think that it would go? For a while I thought that it would be her husband who did it, but since he seemed to be such a minor character, I figured that it would be her in the end. I was almost hoping that it would be the ALOFT guy, but even that would have been a little too coincidental in my view, since Haller seemed to pick him almost at random (although with good reason).

I never try to figure out the mystery, but I thought the woman was innocent. Shows what I know. :)
