Hello all! I don't think I'm violating a DVDTalk rule by writing this (in light of Seeker's great success), but I'm a long-time member and writer here, and I know a lot of you like this crime/noir/hard-boiled stuff! So, without further ado, I want to announce that I've e-published a crime novel called THE NAKED DAME--a throwback pulp novel set in 1950s LA, in the Hard Case Crime vein.

The ebook is available in many formats, including the Kindle (http://www.amazon.com/The-Naked-Dame-ebook/dp/B004UVQS7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=books&qid=1301930868&sr=1-1). You can download other formats (and free samples) from Smashwords (http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/50904).

Thanks for reading. I appreciate the Book Forum support! :)

Jason - that is beyond awesome  I checked out the sample and that is some terrific stuff! Would be curious to know what you used for inspiration (old school noir, new school or some combination of both).

Again, congrats. :)

Jason let me read The Naked Dame a few months ago, and I have to say, it's a great read. Jason has a solid grasp on what a pulp detective novel should feel like, and the main character, Guy, is the everyman that I learned to connect with and appreciate through Alfred Hitchcock movies.

If you're into crime novels, you could certainly do worse with your $3.

Thanks a lot! Made my night! I hope the sample encourages you to buy the full book and post the cover in the "What Are You Reading?" thread! :)

I was definitely inspired by the old-school noir--Hammett, Chandler, Cain--but probably mostly Block. Noir films, of course. I actually submitted the book to Charles Ardai, and although he passed on it, he sent me the most encouraging rejection letter. :)

Anyway, thanks again, and hope you enjoy the hell out it.

Can i buy this for the iPad?

Hell yeah! Thanks! Here are the Smashwords instructions:

How do I download books to my iPad?
Download Apple's iBooks app, if you haven't already. Next, use the iPad's web browser to visit the Smashwords book page, then download the EPUB version of the book. The iPad will give you the option to load the book into your iBooks library. If you have other favorite e-reading apps installed, it may also give you the option to open the books in your other e-reading apps as well.

I appreciate the support, everyone! Let me know what you think! I've also started a website for NAKED DAME here (http://www.the-naked-dame.com). There are samples and blogging about the book and about e-publishing, etc.

Blind bought it and will start tonight. I'm excited for you and happy to report your book is going to break me out of my 2011 funk of having not read a book yet.

I finished the book and really enjoyed it. It's one of the few books that I've read recently that goes out with a bang instead of a whimper. Loved the ending.

Read the sample and went ahead and bought it.

Great story so far!

You guys are the embodiment of awesome. Would it be too much to ask to get you to review the book at Amazon and especially Smashwords? I'd appreciate any help spreading the word. :)

Once I finish it I will drop a review on Amazon and Goodreads.

Also, you can see on Goodreads who is currently reading your book and comment on them. I had an author do that once when I was reading their fantasy novel and I thought it was kind of awesome. They told me there was a corrected version and I might want to redownload the title. Then we got in a little discussion about how much I enjoyed their book. It was cool getting to hear from the author out of the blue.

A very belated congratulations! Now that the Kindle has come down to my price range, this book will be among the first I buy when the Touch comes out next month.

Hey thanks! The book has been selling steadily, and it's received some very gratifying reviews. One cool thing is that I recently printed out some paperbacks of DAME with the help of a friend of mine who has constructed his own paperback binding machine. Thought I'd share a photo of those here.

That binding machine is pretty sweet. You can check it out here (http://atomicpublishing.net/atomicbindingmachine.aspx).
