So how many of you here with Directv won't watch this because it's not in HD?
Fortunately my 2nd DVR is hooked up to a perfectly good SD TV, so I set the season pass on that TV. At least I'll be able to watch this and not constantly bitch about how ugly 480i looks on an 1080p HDTV.

Well, if you guys ever intend on watching this series in the future, you better not visit these threads considering this is a heavily serialized murder mystery.

No HD for U-Verse either. Guess us crazy folks will have to find 'other' ways to watch them in HD.

I'm not boycotting or anything, I just do not enjoy watching SD so I'll skip it.
I really don't understand why AMC HD is so hard to get. These providers already have a carriage deal for the network. Is AMC playing such hardball with the providers that they can't afford the HD version it in my $70 basic package?
Or do they just not want eyeballs on their network?

We'll be watching.
Dare I say it? As much as I complain, I really don't see the hugh difference in SD vs HD. Not enough not to watch anyway. But, I won't tell Dtv that.

For the time being I don't have cable at my apartment, but a family member will DVR this and I'll catch up in a few weeks.
I can't understand why anyone would boycott this though just because they can't watch it in HD.

I have AMC in HD now. I had no fucking clue.
Oh fuck yeah! Looks like we got it a few weeks back. I can finally watch Breaking Bad in 'real' HD.
DVR set tonight for The Killing!

I personally have no problem with it. But, I can understand why people hate it. 480i looks really grainy/pixellated on a 1080p HDTV. Also, my HDTV stretches out SD picture even if the picture is 16X9. You need to re-adjust your HDTV to normal mode to be able to watch it without looking stretched.

Looking forward to this, but likely won't get around to watching it tonight with everything else that is on.

DirecTV with no AMCHD is an embarrassment. Won't be watching on DirecTV. I will find other means to watch in HD.

I thought the pilot was solid and I think this show has potential. At this point I don't care much for Mierelle Enos who plays the lead detective, her acting seems a bit weak. I like that Billy Campbell and Michelle Forbes are on this show.

I also don't have a problem with SD and I also do the same adjustments to my TV and everything looks fine.

I have no doubt the killer is
I had the killer on Harper's Island pegged from the first episode, so I'm pretty good at following the clues planted both by the writing and by the use of the actors. I would be shocked if I was wrong, or else its someone they haven't shown yet, which would suck. Obviously the candidate has some skeletons, but it's a red herring. Too obvious.

I really liked it. The lead actress is an odd choice just sort of homely looking but her partner is a pretty good character.

I didn't think he acted strange
I liked it.
I agree that Mireille Enos was an odd choice for the lead. I kept picturing her as Jodean/Kathy from Big Love whenever she was on screen.

That character was my first thought as well. We'll see if we're right.
Really liked the show quite a bit. It was tad jarring seeing Mirielle Enos in real clothes at the beginning, but I got used to that. By the end of the first hour I was invested.

Solid premiere if you ask me. The Linden character is just okay but the partner is a good character. I'm definitely going to keep tuning into this show. AMC really impresses me with their original programming.

Really riveting 2 hours. I was glued to the TV. I liked how both episodes were shot and the score.
I thought Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton were excellent as the parents. The scene where he happened to drive by the crime scene and eventually found out Rosie was there was really heartbreaking, especially Forbes acting on the other end of the phone.
I honestly haven't seen anything with Mireille Enos, but I think she was fine as Linden. Making her a plain jane homely looking woman didn't bother me. If anything it will keep my attention focused on the mystery. Out of all the actresses they could have chosen, she is an odd choice though.
Did anyone think the scene with Holder and those 2 young soccer girls was just creepy? I mean I understand his logic was trying to get the girls to open up to him, which led to The Cage.
Billy Campbell is probably the best known actor out of everyone besides Forbes. I'm interested in learning more about the Richmond character. He definitely appears to have some skeletons in the closet.
I wonder how Linden is going to explain to her fiancee that she has to stay in Seattle for 11 more days (episodes).

Since they played it back to back at least three times, i tried to catch something in the hopes that they would provide clues from the very beginning.
The only thing i caught was Rosie was wearing the same pants in a picture on her wall that she was killed in. NO idea if that was intentional or coincidence.
