No Jason Statham though. No cast announced yet.
12 episodes Executive Produced by Luc Besson. The budget for the show is $48M.
I read awhile back that Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie from Stargate Atlantis and Universe were also hired to work on this show.

We literally posted this at the same time.
BTW, I just checked Mallozzi's blog and they have already started pre-production on the show. There are photos of the sets they are building etc.

They had better do a hell of a job casting a Statham replacement or find a way to stretch a TV budget to do cinema quality action sequences because those are the only things the movies had going for them.

I read of Joseph Mallozzi's blog (one of Transporter's writer/producers) that they have 5 episodes written right now. The production is currently working out of Toronto.

And we have a lead. Chris Vance (Dexter, Prison Break, Burn Notice) has been cast as Frank Martin.
Not a bad pick IMO.
According to Deadline.com, the female lead will be played by Andrea Osvart

I'm definitely interested with Vance in the lad. He was great in Prison Break and Burn Notice. My only question is, why do they have to cast him as Frank Martin? Why not just make it a different guy?
On a related note, I think it's cool that Collateral (an incredible movie) and The Transporter take place in the same universe.

With this being on Cinemax, I hope they go all out and make it an R-rated TV series with lots of violence and sex/nudity. Yeah I know the Transporter movies are PG-13, but they have alot more luxury now being on a pay cable channel.

Are you having to do a lot of martial arts training?
I’m doing a bit. I’m on a fitness program at the moment. It’s more stamina work than anything, because we will be shooting for five months and that’s a long time to sustain all the physical activites that we’ve got on the show. The stunt guys that worked on the movies are coordinating all the stunts and the action sequences and everything for the series. They’re all very experienced. I’ll be working with them and whatever I can do, I’ll do.
Very discouraging. Expect lots of crappy editing and camera work.
