I'm hoping it's better than last week.

Maybe Raylan will shoot somebody. It's like you spend a year developing a character, then the next season Fonzie just up and doesn't wear a leather jacket anymore, must have sold his Triumph, and never turns his thumbs up and says 'AYYYYYY' any more.

What the shit-amundo?!

^ You were one of the viewers who thought Sopranos sucked when its seasons weren't full of guys getting whacked, weren't you?

I really couldn't care less if Raylan shoots someone, as long as I get a good show with intriguing story and characters.

Raylan is maturing. I'm sure he's going to shoot his fair share of people as the show goes on, but he can't keep up the pace of the first episode or even the first season. The whole point of this seems to be Raylan is settling down a bit and doesn't want to just get transfered to the next shit job. He's a badass. He doesn't need to solve all his problems with a gun.

^ Especially not with someone like Tim around; just farm them out.

Interesting development with Raylan's opinion about Art "knowing".

Boy, this Bennett shit needs to come to a head. I hope at least one of them bites it soon. (Praying it's Dickey. Raylan needs some revenge and a shooting would be more than justified, more than likely, because it's not like they haven't left a footprint, even more so than normal, in recent episodes.)

Glad to have Boyd back. Wonder what he thinks he found. (He may think he knows part of the Bennett scheme, but I would imagine he can't know the depths of it, just from looking at the map. Though, if he's even got his thumb on part of it, I'm sure the rest wouldn't be a leap for someone with his past to estimate.)

Next week looks pretty good! (It's a great sign of this show that it was only episode 8 of 13 and it already feels like the action's been building forever.)

(I loved Raylan's police house comment, when Carol goes off on the officers, "there y'all go pokin the bear and it's his fault when you get bit". )

Could Boyd have figured out that the Bennetts have dump spots and bodies will be found?

Apparently his standup game needs a bit of work too. Just not that enjoyable to see him get it handed to him by that big dope---and one-handed at that. Maybe he should stick with what works, i.e. his gun... However, it will be that much sweeter when Raylan takes Mama & Co. down (hopefully).

I thought that when Raylan saw Loretta??, that he allowed himself to get beaten up to show her just the kind of people the Bennett's are. I'm sure she is beginning to question the story she was told about her pa. Seems to somewhat borne out from next weeks promo.

that's kind of the what i was thinking after watching it. he could've fought back, but he wanted her to see what they do to people.

I'm also taking his laying down in the fight as him doing some kind of deserving punishment bullshit. I'm not a fan of drunken emo Raylan and he seemed to be stuck in that mode for the entire episode. Interactions were still fantastic though and that convenience store scene was amazing. Next week looks awesome.

I am expecting Raylan to start singing for Death Cab for Cutie with all his angst-y shite.

I was also surprised at how decisively that big galoot was able to beat him. Makes me question the empty hand SD work the marshals get. Last time he got his ass beat, his excuse was he was drunk.

Hmmm.... I hadn't really considered that, that's a good observation (I just assumed he was hungover and off his game)

I was wondering why he didn't just take him in for assaulting a federal officer... but your observation makes this a bit more sensible

Also, remember Raylan put away his badge (right before the fight) as a gesture that he was no longer acting as a US Marshal.

Re: Justified -- "The Spoil" -- 3/30/11

I haven't been too thrilled about seeing Raylan getting beat up repeatedly, even when there are explanations. Still, there's something to be said about a guy who says, "Win or lose, you touch me again you better be prepared for what comes after."

This show has earned my trust, so even when I see something I don't like, I'm willing to bury it and go along for the ride to see where it goes. There's plenty of time to be disappointed (if warranted) when the season is over.

As for taking the guy in for assaulting a federal officer, they specifically showed Raylan taking off his badge to say (without words), "... don't worry about me being an officer... we're just two guys now."

In my legal opinion, Winona has a voodoo punani, and its power has weakened Raylan.

Re: Justified -- "The Spoil" -- 3/30/11

I think Raylan let Coover beat him up for two reasons. The first, as has been previously mentioned, was that he wanted Loretta to see the type of people the Bennetts really are. The second, is that I think Raylan knows Coover has bottled up a lot over the course of the season and he was afraid of what might happen if he didn't get to vent his frustrations a bit.

I liked this episode a lot. Wonder if that had anything to do with Winona getting very little screen time?

It was nice to see Ava again, and I loved the scene when Boyd came home. Her shooting the bag and Coover's reaction was great. Doubt we'll ever know what was in the bag though. It was funny to hear Boyd comment that it seems they're on the same side again, and Raylan try, in vain, to deny it.

It was also great to finally get the history of bad blood between the Givens family and the Bennett family. The explanation of how Dickie got his limp makes that character a lot more interesting; it's surprising he keeps such a level head with Raylan and I look forward to the time when they do, once and for all, face one another again.

Jesus Christ Rebecca Creskoff is HOT in this episode.

Didn't realize she was in Hung, may have to go watch that series. There are a few NSFW photos out there.
