FX renews Justified and Archer for 3rd seasons
http://www.deadline.com/2011/03/its-...-third-season/
As expected, FX has renewed its sophomore drama Justified for a third season. The pickup for the Sony Pictures TV-produced series comes just in time for FX's upfront party tonight in New York, where the cast of the neo-Western crime drama starring Timothy Olyphant is slated to appear, along with actors from the other FX series. Also expected to get a renewal momentarily is FX's animated comedy series Archer.
FX brass have been very happy with Justified's performance. Despite hitting a season low in 18-49 last week, the series is running way ahead of Season 1 as it has emerged as a big DVR gainer, getting a 55%-60% ratings bump from time-shifted viewing. Season-to-date, the drama has averaged 4 million viewers in Live Plus 7 for its original Wednesday 10 PM telecasts. That is up 16% from Season 1. In 18-49, the average is 2.1 million, up 16%. With multiple plays included, each episode of Justified draws 7.4 million total viewers this season, up 9% from Season 1 and close to the cumulative viewership for FX's flagship drama Sons of Anarchy. The average total 18-49 audience for each episode is 3.8 million, up 10%.
Good news from the FX front despite the fact that they have cancelled a few shows recently. Archer is not quite official yet, but it's practically a done deal. EW.com was reporting it was done though.

Glad to hear it. Especially after one frustrating FX cancellation (Terriers) and not-so-frustrating (Lights Out).

How pathetic is it that when I saw "FX renews Justified and..." I had a brief hopeful thought that "...brings back Terriers for another season" was the end of the sentence?
Awesome, but not unexpected, news about Justified. I couldn't really get into Archer's Pilot when I tried to watch it as a Bonus Feature on The League DVD. Maybe I should give it another shot, I do like a lot of those involved with the show.

Justified to me was practically a given. Consistently good show! So I'm guessing Sunny and The League are also returning.
Glad I ultimately took a pass on Lights Out.

I miss terriers as well. Glad to hear we will get more justified. I would love to see a Karen Sisco or even Ray Nicolette cross over .

After the 4th Season, FX ordered 39 more episodes. So we've known for a while It's Always Sunny would be on for at least 7 Seasons.
As for The League, I haven't seen anything official, but Paul Scheer (Andre) Tweeted it had been picked up for a 3rd Season on January 15th.

It would be interesting to see how they would do a season if there is a NFL lockout. They could probably have some fun with that.

Great news on Justified, if not entirely surprising.
I keep trying to get into Archer, but that show just doesn't work for me...even though it's the kind of thing that's normally in my wheelhouse.
Just watched Season 1 of The League on netflix. That show is amazing. Can't believe I missed it before.

The League was officially renewed on Feb 7th, I posted something about it in one of the League threads (I was worried as ratings weren't the highest).

The League S2 made up for the lackluster season of It's Always Sunny last year. League is one of my favorite comedies alongside Community and Modern Family.
Archer is hit or miss for me, when it hits, it's amazing -- so I'm glad its sticking around.

FX has picked comedy series The League for a third season with a 13-episode order. In first-run, Season 2 of The League averaged 1.4 million total viewers and 1.1 million Adults 18-49, up +4% and +5% vs. season one, respectively. “We love the show, and the reaction the cast received across the country during their recent comedy tour is a sign the show is really building momentum,” FX's EVP Nick Grad said.
Set against the backdrop of a fantasy football league, the FX Prods.-produced The League is about friendship, marriage, parenting, and growing up…or refusing to grow up. It was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Marcus Schaffer who serve as executive producers and directors. The ensemble cast features Mark Duplass, Stephen Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Katie Aselton and Jon Lajoie.

Good news on Justified. Glad FX takes DVR audiences (myself being a major one) into account when making decisions. If only Fox did the same thing with their other network.

Glad to hear it. Justified is the best. I didn't get into Archer until the beginning of season 2, but I'm getting pretty keen on it too.
Glad FX made some good decisions here.
