Synopsis:

Spoiler:
In the Season 4 finale, Hank waits for his sentence to be handed down, but in the meantime there's a film-kickoff party to attend, and he's surprised to see Karen and her date there, and even more surprised by some news they deliver about Becca. The festive party takes a turn for the worse with the arrival of actor Eddie Nero (Rob Lowe), who is fully inhabiting his role as Hank, and goes so far as to make an inappropriate pass at Karen.

Episode 12 of 12

Looking forward to finding out if Season 5 will be Calicarceration.

Stopped watching about half way through this season after Charlie & Hank's shenanigans in the mansion with the monkey. Took a real Weeds style slide for me.

Thought this season was average, at best. That said, I'll be back for season 5 (the completest I am).

Definitely had some dog episodes, but overall it was okay. Kinda like Hank, Charlie, etc so I'll come back.

I quit prior to that. Very apt comparison to Weeds. Still would check in on the threads discussing the show though to see if there was some massive improvement.

There's been an influx of shows about flawed characters that seem to have a good side (Weeds, Californication, Nurse Jackie, etc etc etc). Maybe it's because of how Tony Soprano became such a fascinating character. But unlike Tony, these other people just start to grate on me after a while. Hank Moody became nearly unwatchable for me these past 2 seasons and I'm actually hoping the character goes to jail. (and has an extremely bad time in jail).

Frankly I don't understand why anyone who quit watching a show would even be remotely interested in wanting to continue to read the show threads. 1st of all, I would get zero satisfaction about reading plot points that make no sense to me, especially for a serialized show like this. Seems like a waste of time. Don't mean to single you out since I know your very rarely post here.

I mean if all of the sudden in episode 5 of next season, Hank banged 2 big breasted blondes in a 3-way or realized he was indeed a dick and told Karen that he truly loved her and wanted to get married, would that make you want to all of the sudden watch and say..."Wow, I'm missing out! I'm going to have to start watching again." It's not just Californication, it's any TV show in general.

This was a solid finale overall. I hope Hank takes the advice of his attorney and grows up so he can be with a decent woman that likes him and isn't Karen, but I know that ain't gonna happen.

I thought this was average. No bad episodes but just a lot of blah moments. However, this finale was great. A great ending with "You Can't Always Get What You Want", almost felt like a series finale.

I felt the same way. I don't know if this season was shot without the knowledge of a fifth season being a go, but it seems like this ep. was done to possibly double as a series finale if needed. It really seemed to tie up loose ends that had been around since the first season. The Mia secret is no longer hanging over his head, he's more or less back to writing, and his daughter seems to finally be on good relations with him. The shot of him driving off into the sunset with his typewriter in tow seemed like the appropriate end.

Re: Californication -- Season Finale -- "And Justice For All" -- 3/27/11

Good episode to wrap up a pretty horrid season. I think the low point was the Seinfeld-finale-like trial episode. I mean... wow, was this season bad. Especially what they did to Runkle. Took a great nuanced character and turned him into naked-screaming-guy for like 4 or 5 episodes in a row. Absurd. I do love the show overall and will have to stick around for season 5, but I hope they get their frickin' mojo back.

I will say that the past two seasons has seen this show go for more slapstick style humor than seems suiting. Runkle is a good character, but this year he was turned into a clown made for pratfalls.

So if I understand correctly, Hank banged the actress playing Karen in the movie? If so, they seem to be saying he can't change.

Re: Californication -- Season Finale -- "And Justice For All" -- 3/27/11

I really liked the episode. It definitely felt like a finale. It had some of everything. The whole menstruating discussion was gross out humor at its finest (I'm normally not a fan). Then there was Marcy and her "Strawberry Slutcake" comments. Charlie's profession of etnernal love for Marcy. Hank's begrudging acceptance of Ben. Becca's acceptance of her screwup dad. Even Rob Lowe was killing it. It was also nice to see Mia. Just lots of good stuff for fans of the show. Kudos. I'll probably watch that one again.

I'll be back for Season 5.

Re: Californication -- Season Finale -- "And Justice For All" -- 3/27/11

When Hank slipped in the pool and went under, I was hoping he'd be dead. No such luck.

I wonder if Becca and/or Karen died, would Hank finally take something seriously?

Really terrible season (and that's saying a lot). The comparison to Weeds is very fitting. Just like Weeds, I'm only continuing to watch this show for closure and to kill 25 minutes while I commute to/from work.

I didn't think that this season was all too different from all the other seasons. For better of worse, this show's been pretty consistent.

I found it to be rather anti-climatic. I like this show, but it's starting to annoy me a bit.

Re: Californication -- Season Finale -- "And Justice For All" -- 3/27/11

I finished this tonight. I agree it felt like a series finale. Not sure where the show goes from here. Even with the slapstick humor (which I love), I think season 5 will have some kind of theme of redemption for Hank (which I know alot of you are begging for)

at dinner party and the stabbing. That was crazy. Peggy is a fucking psycho. She and Eddie are a match made in heaven. And wow , at Sasha Bingham's killer cleavage at the party. I'm, going to miss her next season.

at Hank being rescued by Black Jesus/Ben.

I swear, Hank can just wink at a chick and she'll want to hop in bed with him. Was not shocked that he put the moves on the actress playing Karen.

Has there ever been a chick that Hank hasn't banged yet?

Unlikely. She was only a recurring guest star this season. With the exception of Hank, Karen, Becca and the Runkles, the show changes recurring guest stars each season.

She's probably a little gun-shy about showing the twins since her nude scene in Watchmen was panned by so many critics.
