Yes, I searched. From the same people that made Family Guy. I hope this becomes a show. It was pretty funny. You can watch a 6 min preview here.

Eh. I thought it was just okay. I'll watch the show when it comes on though.

What I'm really looking forward to are the new episodes of Family Guy.

Thanks for posting the preview!

Family Guy + Alf - funny = American Dad?

I'll give it a chance because I loved Family Guy so much, but that looks awful.

Yeah, it looks pretty good to me. But I keep getting Family Guy flashbacks when watching it.

Does anyone remember when it's supposed to start?

It's getting the prime spot after the Superbowl next year. Fox has high hopes for it. Needless to say, it'll be moved to 10 different time slots, cancelled and brought back, then cancelled again, all within 3 months.

Seems like it could be funny with the CIA repub dad. I will check it out since I am a Family Guy fan. Seth should get more people to do the voices, because the alien sounds like Peter "gayed up."

And the Dad sounds like the reporter on Family Guy.

MacFarlane was on Loveline the other night and he described the show as "Family Guy meets All in the Family". He started the show off saying it's "a little left leaning", but half way thru he was asked which candidate's victory would be better for the show he said "If Kerry wins the show will have less material to work with, but if Bush wins America loses." Then he said "well, I guess I wasn't to subtle there" and did some good old fashion Bush bashing.

I'm still interested, but usually comedy and politics don't mix well. Just look how bad MASH and Murphy Brown got when they went political.

From seeing the pilot episode... It's not good. I only laughed once.

reason: This was done during the time frame after FG was canceled and then picked up again. So all the characters are pretty much mirror images of the FG characters.

don't expect this series to last long since FG comes back in may.

I watched the pilot about a month ago. It was fair but not great. Family Guy is much better and this is basically a copy of it. I think they should've have got R. Lee Ermey or Patrick Warburton for the voice of the Stan.

Early reviews say this is less funny than "Family Guy"? How is that even possible?

I assume by your post you making an attempt to be witty and say that Family Guy isn't funny. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

The reviews for Family Guy were pretty bad, and I loved the show, so I won't put too much stock in the critics. That said, the preview I saw a few months back for American Dad was pretty lackluster. It really comes off as too much of a clone of FG.

This is just a preview, the show itself won't start until May, back to back with Family Guy. Actually given that, I would hope the show picks up.

I've just seen the clips and haven't been overwhelmed with laughter like I am with FG episodes I've seen countless time. But, I don't recall being that in love with the first handful of FG episodes either. I like FG Season 1, I love FG Season 2 and 3. Here's hoping its just a matter of getting their footing.

The show doesn't look that good to me either but I'll give it a chance. I'll turn in just to see if they can pull off anything funny. I don't have high hopes. I'd rather they focus on Family Guy and not spread themselves too thin between the two shows.

Point was that American Dad was in production after FG was canned. So Seth made it as Family Guy 2.0 with FG coming back from the dead either American dad will have to evolve into something different and change or work with the characters around or it will just die because the better version is in Family Guy.

I wish I could watch it, but FOX29 Philadelpha is playing more crap about the superbowl! I hope to one day watch non-superbowl related programming on FOX.
