American Reunion? (American Pie 4)
Anybody think Universal will be planning this for a 2009 release (10 years after the original)? It seems like a good idea, especially after all the direct-to-video sequels. I'm sure Eugene Levy would sign on in a heartbeat.

I doubt any of them would want to admit their careers had already soured that much. Steve Guttenberg didn't exactly beg to be in Police Academy: Mission To Moscow.

If it was a true follow up to American Wedding, and not just another excuse to slap the American Pie logo on some random teen comedy somebody shat out in a portapotty, then yeah...I'd be all for it, especially if you could get a good portion of the original cast back and had a good story to tell that needed to be told about those characters. And if it was a true follow up to American Wedding then it would be the true American Pie 4 and give reason to just push those awful DTV movies out of the way and ignore them all together.

I don't think anyone cares enough about the brand name of American Pie at this point to rush out and pack a theater house no matter who is in it. The theatrical series has run its course and I don't think this movie is a good idea or needs to be made.

I liked the three American Pie movies despite what people say here. I have not seen the direct to video sequels so I can't comment on them, but if they brought back the cast from at least 2 and 3 then I would not mind seeing it.

I say wait a long time to do American Reunion. Pull the franchise out of mothballs in another 10-15 years kinda like what's happened with Terminator, Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Rocky, and Rambo.
If they're gonna do another sequel(a real one, not "Band Camp") in the next few years, make it American Baby or American Divorce.

Here’s something interesting.
Universal has decided to abandon those direct-to-video “American Pie” spin-off films in favour of making a third sequel to the original film – one that might possibly pick up on the whereabouts of now-married Jim and Michelle (Jason Biggs and Alyson Hannigan). Like the other three, it’ll be released theatrically.
The success of the direct-to-video spin-off films (“American Pie : Band Camp”, “American Pie : Naked Mile” and “American Pie : Beta House” – all featuring Eugene Levy) has Uni thinking it might be time to return the series to its roots – alas, it’s back to Jim, Michelle, Finch, Stifler (though personally I doubt Seann William Scott will return) and whoever else can be roped back into the fruity follow-up.
One can only assume that this fourth direct sequel would centre on Jim and Michelle having kids – with token words of advice from the weird and wild father (Eugene Levy), of course – or the duo going through some kind of hiccup in their marriage? Then again, maybe they’ll drop those characters and fix on one of the supporting characters, say Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) or even, Oz (Chris Klein), who didn’t return for the last sequel?
Nobody’s been roped into doing the film yet – but I can’t imagine Jason Biggs would knock it back – but “American Pie 4” is said to be inching forward so expect to hear something officialish soon.

Sounds good to me. Me and a friend were watching the original the other night and said a Reunion film would be cool, and figured aside from Hannigan and Scott no one is really working steady anyway

Yeah, I'd see it. They better ramp this thing in production quickly...I think Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) is pregnant.
Speaking of which, really curious to see how that'll work into How I Met Your Mother. Awesome show in case you haven't watched it

They should work it into the show and make it Barney's!

I think they might be able to rope Seann back, because I think frankly he'd be the only one turning it down if they couldn't get him. It's not like any of their careers, aside from Hannigan, who has a solid TV gig, has really taken off.

Why wouldn't Sean William Scott be involved in this? Or anyone else from the first two? What else do they have to do??

I still need to see Wedding. American Pie 2 soured me from wanting to see any more. But a reunion flick with the entire original cast would be a lot of fun, and I'd be down.

I don't understand what people disliked about 2. I actually think it's the best one. I thought the first one wasn't as funny as the sequel and the third one was a little too schmaltzy.
Slightly OT but also that American Pie Revealed documentary that came with Wedding on DVD was really great. One of the most interesting things about 2 is seeing how they cut around the completely excised subplot of Stifler's father.
