Re: Californication -- "The Trial" -- 3/13/11
I keep telling my self that I'm done with this show with how bad the last few episodes have gotten but from the synopsis this actually sounds like a pretty good episode. Looks like they reeled me back in again.

"I look like an FBI agent."
I could be wrong, but I thought Hank met Bill for the first time in the pilot episode. Or was that just the first time he officially met his daughter? Anyone remember?
I did find it refreshing to have a Marci free episode though.

Anyway I thought this was a pretty good episode. The only problem is is that there is no suspense. We know that Hank gets off scott free. He always does and if he didn't and they sent him to jail the show would be over.

Hank in prison would probably be pretty entertaining; even better if Runkle is in there with him.

I could see them ending the season with him getting some jail which he would serve off screen. Then next season would pick up with him getting released. It seems that the show has covered a lot less time than the actual elapsed time of 2007-2011. Didn't a couple of seasons pick up right after the last one left off?

If Hank goes to jail, and they spend next season with him in jail, I don't think that's the "Californication" that I signed up for...

I liked that as well.
So even though Mia admitted that Hank was beyond plastered when they first met at the house... and Bill corroborated it... and Mia admitted that Hank had no idea who she was at the bookstore... Karen doesn't believe Hank. Give me a break. I'm glad they made her look stupid by her bailing on her wedding night, and constantly jumping in and out of relationships with Hank. She's no smarter than the rest of the characters on this show.
Runkle on the stand was just stupid writing. He's nervous so he blurts out really idiotic stories that makes Hank look bad? Just a way to force comedy in a situation that doesn't call for it.

Come on people, this is Californication we're talking about. The show where Hank Moody met the biggest starlet in the world by accident and she was begging to sleep with him a few hours later. Prison aint gonna slow these writers down.
