Greek (ABC Family) - Series Discussion Thread

Haven't heard too much about this show, but I heard Kelsey Grammer's daughter is one of the stars. I'm always up for checking out a college comedy/drama. I have my DVR set so I'll check it out.

Summary:
Debut: A geeky freshman tries to fit in at a prestigious university, where sister Casey is a popular sorority girl. In the opener, Rusty gets caught up in fraternity rush, but a chance encounter alters his final decision; and Casey tries to land a prospective Zeta member while adjusting to her little brother's presence on campus.

I've read that it's a bit "raunchy" for an ABC family series, and I wonder how current ABC family viewers will react, and if people who would normally tune into such a show will miss it due to the network.

I'm considering giving this a try, as it has Clark Duke (of "Clark and Michael" fame).

Why does this show seem destined only to make me miss Undeclared?

Greek

anybody else with me in checking out Greek tonight on ABC Family?

for those of you that know me in here -- it has clark duke it it -- from clark and michael! he is like my favorite new/young comedian. so to me this is worth checking out just for him. but it also looks like it is gonna be a fun college show. i have a soft spot for stuff like this that helps bring me back to my own college shenanigans!

Kelseys daughter Spencer is the one who plays Casey.

i thought it was great. really impressed with it, ill be tuning in again. i love the clark duke's character, and rusty is great too. i think they did a good job of developing the characters as a whole in the premiere.

I just watched this and went in with zero expectations. I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. I laughed out loud several times and I found myself really liking so many characters: the Geek, the slacker frat boy, the unexpectedly gay friend. I really enjoyed Casey's scene in the pool hall.

Her boyfriend Evan reminds me of Logan from Veronica Mars and Casey reminds me of Cassie from Hex. Good cast and the writing was surprisingly good.

I thought the pilot was really entertaining and will definitely return for more. I'm surprised this is airing on ABC Family considering it's a little on the raunchy side for a "family oriented" network. I enjoyed all the characters and I especially thought the geek and Casey were solid lead characters.

Caught the very last rerun of the pilot tonight at midnight and got sucked in. The ads had me avoiding this, but I now I've added a season pass for it. Liked the cast. Seemed a bit strange seeing drinking, sex and... (was that a bong, I saw?) on ABC Family, but who the hell am I to complain?

I really enjoyed Casey's scene in the pool hall.
That was enjoyable. Let's hope her pool playing skills continue to be important plot elements. And her style of dress in those scenes stay the same.

to the pool scene. The whole show was good, but that was the highlight.

I was wondering why Kelsey Grammar gave his daughter a boy's name. Then I remembered that he was a girl's name, so it all evens out.

Greek "Hazed and Confused" 7/16/07

Since the pilot got the show off to a solid start, I thought it was worthy to create an episode 2 thread

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
During initiation week, Casey gets back at Rebecca by saddling her with a difficult scavenger hunt. Meanwhile, Rusty deals with a scheduling conflict involving a physics exam and a fraternity beer-pong tournament.

Hmm...the words "pool hall" do not appear in that synopsis. I may be giving this episode a pass.

i was going to watch this show, but after talking to my girlfriend, she said it would go against everything i stand for as a member of a national fraternity and the stereotypes i tried to diminish while at college.

Ummm...no one else see this as but a pale shadow reprise of Animal House? But with absolutely none of the charisma of the original main characters?

So did noone watch the 2nd episode? I DVR'd it last night and will get around to it before the weekend.

What is up with these comments about fraternity stereotypes? Since when did we start getting PC and offended about accurate portrayals of Frat people? Lighten up guys! It's a fun comedy.

I don't know about Noone, but I watched it. (recorded the late showing because it's on opposite The Closer)

I'm enjoying it. Fun, I like the characters and plan to keep watching. Some good eye candy too. Think I said basically the same thing about the pilot. Still trying to get past the fact that I'm watching something on ABC Family that features heavy drinking and revenge sex as major plot points. I'm not complaining, but I'm guessing they must be trying to change their image with this.

Hope they cut out the light rock music montages and the "warm fuzzy" get togethers between brother and sis. I thought the pilot had the sharper writing but this episode wasn't bad ... especially when it had the characters banging heads ... beer pong ... camera phones ... et al.

You might like the show. Anybody who is not in a fraternity is portrayed as a loser and/or nerd.

I just noticed this episode will be played tonight on ABC (in HD!). Was the pilot on last Friday and I just missed it?

Also a bit odd that Kyle XY gets yanked off ABC Fridays only to replace it with another ABCFamily show a couple weeks later.
