Synopsis:

Spoiler:
President Martinez (Blair Underwood) and his longtime Chief of Staff (guest star Roger Bart) charge the intelligence community with decrypting Thomas's (Clifton Collins, Jr.) satellite message, but more importantly determining to whom it was sent. While they are distracted, Thomas unveils a surprise attack, but he does not anticipate a heroic stand-off with Blake Sterling (Zeljko Ivanek), who learns an important lesson about Sleepers from Maya (guest star Clea DuVall). Meanwhile, newly appointed Alaskan Senator Catherine Lewis (guest star Virginia Madsen) threatens to divulge information about the Mt. Inostranka detention facility on an episode of "HARDBALL with Chris Matthews" (playing himself). Elsewhere, Sean (Jason Ritter) and Leila (Sarah Roemer) get a fresh lead on the whereabouts of Samantha, but it leads them to a dramatic turn in their lives. James Dempsey (guest star Hal Holbrook) foresees that he and Sean will once again cross paths.

Pretty interesting that they've spilled the origins of the "aliens" with the newest promos.

I haven't decided if I'm going to stick with this or not. I enjoyed the first half of the season but it wasn't anything to get really excited about. If tonight's episodes are good, I'll continue to watch, if not, I'll walk away.

I plan to DVR tonight's episodes and check this thread for comments later on. I'll use those comments to determine whether I decide to watch or not. I hope you don't mind I use you guys as the guinea pigs?

I think it's "pulling a V"

Starts good then has about 10 hours of storytelling that could be done in 1 or 2 eps.

Nevertheless, I will DVR and skim it.

I haven't a clue of where it left off. I'll record it. Probably will be some time before I ever get to it. Have a backlog after going on vacation last week and have so much college basketball to watch in the coming weeks.

If you liked the show at all previous, the 2 hours tonight are pretty decent IMO (it aired in Canada last night) and are worth your time.

almost forgot this was on tonight. This will go on the back burner though behind Chicago Code and Greek. Hope the 2nd half is good!

Yeh, worth it. It is getting deep now.

This 2 hour ep is great but to bad the next 10 eps will probably take place in a 1 day time span and get no deeper than we are tonight.

Re: The Event -- 2 Hour Premiere -- "And Then There Were More/Inostranka" -- 3/07/11

Okay that was really good. Very compelling 2 hours with the plot moving forward alot. I know alot of you who watched the 1st 10 episodes were kind of hesitant to jump back into this, but I think this is a very promising start to the 2nd half of the season.

The scenes at the Inostranka prison were great. Zeljko Ivanek was really solid in his scenes at the prison and going against Thomas. And now we know Thomas' end game and it's impact on Earth. It sucked that guard wussed out after seeing Sterling getting tortured by Thomas' goons. I think Thomas is turning out to be a solid villain.

I was also glad to see them tie up the whole Sean and Leila wild goose chase around the U.S. Now it's going to be interesting to see what Michael and Sofia have in store for Leila. I liked the introduction of the Virginia Madsen character. at her screwing with Martinez on Hard Ball with Chris Matthews.

The Preview for the upcoming episodes looked sick. I'm actually kind of fired up for this again. At first we didn't really know what this show was back in the Fall, but now it's pretty obvious that it's a full out science fiction thriller.

Re: The Event -- 2 Hour Premiere -- "And Then There Were More/Inostranka" -- 3/07/11

Yeah this was decent. There were some lapses in credibility (I like Virginia Madsen but she should be in jail and we could have avoided the entire showdown with her on Matthews' show). The prison scenes were awesome but I do wish Young's character didn't sell out (but then again, how else could that have ended).

I think I'll keep watching it for now.

Is this the same series that NBC was running back in the fall which featured a black president, aliens living among us, and a vast conspiracy? Cause this was pretty good. Tight, well acted, and no drawn out fluff in flashback format. I was very iffy on this, but now I'm hooked.

Re: The Event -- 2 Hour Premiere -- "And Then There Were More/Inostranka" -- 3/07/11

I found myself enjoying this just enough to give it a shot next week. Lots of neat stuff, lots of garbage, I just don't care about the hero's girlfriend anymore, so the most interesting to me were the scenes with what's his name in Heroes and Andre Drazen in 24.

The whole senator / president thing was kinda lame, just sack her for crying out loud!

Finally got a chance to watch this ..... I thought the show was just okay earlier, but these two hours were pretty good. Nice comeback for this show. I hope it keeps going like this with a good pace and some decent action.
